Memo to GOP candidates: We are NOT a swing state, OK? So stay away. |
|
Minnesota was, is and will remain a Democrat state. Your evil masters thought they could fool enough Minnesotans to dislodge us from our state's commitment to strong public schools, care for the environment, civil liberties for ALL and job protections (even though Gov. Pawlenty is trying to nudge us the opposite way.)
You sent your candidates, their wives and their children and assorted minions here in your quest for our 10 electoral votes. You spent a bajillion dollars here and I guess we're grateful for that -- I know some cops who were grateful for the overtime, but most of them didn't vote for you anyway since they know you intend to jam up unions and take away the concept of "overtime pay."
So what most people around here remember about your frequent visits is that you tied up traffic a lot.
You still didn't get us...and never will...
Message: Stay the hell out of Minnesota. We will never be seduced by lies, misinformation and fear-mongering. Peddle that shit somewhere else, OK?

1. Bush and his lackeys were crawling all over this state |
|
and the local Repubs kept bragging Minnesota would go red. I knew it wouldn't, and it didn't, so there. And it makes me feel a little better to know that my state is not completely populated by morons.

3. I said from the begining that there was no way in hell we were going red |
|
at least the got to blow some GOP cash here that would otherwise have been spent elsewhere. Dems gained 13 seats in the state house. Sweet.

Bush lost by 100,000 votes. That's less than the margin he's leading by in OH. Seems to me that if OH isn't a sweeping win, neither is Minn.
Not trying to slam you down here--I just want to point out that Minn. folks have got to keep their eyes open because it was closer than you might expect.

6. Our eyes were wide open. |
|
We had HUGE grassroots things going on -- GOTV, poll monitoring, meetyups, you name it. We knew what they were up to and there was no way in hell we were going to let them take MN. And100,000 votes is a respectable margin; remember that OH is a lot bigger than MN.

5. And take Coleman with you |
|
It will be interesting to see if Coleman becomes persona non grata for not delivering Minnesota.
We also trimmed the Repub advantage in the state House to a couple. Now Steve Sviggum is trying to make nicey-nice in the press about cooperation. Yeah right.
If it had not been for the huge GOTV effort here, we probably would have gotten swamped with the rest of the country.
