Sometimes you just gotta roll up that newspaper and whack that dog, no matter how much you don't like to do it.
Dennis needs to order his priorities. Who really gives a crusty fuck if someone wants to destroy his liver and his testicles with juice? Let 'em, I say, because every destroyed-by-steroid athlete is a far more powerful deterrent to wider use than some stern lecture or toothless law.

4. Baseball isn't one of my top priorities, either. |
|
Does Congress really have to get so involved with regulating what athletes do to themselves? Granted, I've never been much of a sports fan, but this issue seems like it could be handled well enough by the Baseball Commission. I just think it's too trivial a matter for our reps to weigh in on.

6. baseball has an exemption from anti-trust laws |
|
So, baseball has some accountability to the goverment for that favor. Here's a slightly dated article that explains it. http://espn.go.com/mlb/s/2001/1205/1290707.html

It's interesting that baseball has that exemption and no other sport does. Seems kind of weird to me, but such is life.

12. Second that question Will... |
|
You are quickly becoming one of our finest and most prolific news reporters. Perhaps it is time to step up to the next level and gain ownership of the power that should come with this new world of online investigative journalism. You are reaching so many, so quickly with this new media tube. I would imagine Kucinitch would jump at the chance to have this opportunity. This is an excellent chance for him to be heard by a power base, that already is backing him on issues. A power base, I might add, that comes to you on a daily basis for our answers. For that matter, it would behoove all of the Dems to begin using you, and other respected journalists in our grassroots community, as their number one go-to for information spreading. We know the monopolized administration- controlled media institutions have failed and you are the new voice. This new reality of information collection is reaching more and more people on a daily basis, spread and multiplied through email and blogs. Those in power know it as well and we must capitalize on this now before it also becomes owned by the abomination that is controlling this country's future. Go out there, Will with all of us behind you and rap your knuckles on those gate keepers doors. Call on us to help you and we will let them know that we wish to hear from them through your forum. In my book, you have paid your dues and this is what you deserve. Ah what the hell... we deserve it too. Keep up... I know I will... feelthebreeze

15. What's a CTA bus? WE have RTA here and Kucinich is at odds with them |
|
right now. There was some BS with RTA trying to absorb a suburbs bus line. Kucinich and the Mayor of North Olmstead actively opposed the merger though I don't understand why. I just remember reading about it.
I'm not sure what you mean by your statement about him getting on the wrong bus but it seems as uninformed as your CTA statement. Kucinich is a decent public servant. He's not flashy but I like him just fine. Your statement only shows that you are trashing him without knowing any of the facts about him or the region he represents. I had hoped for better from a Progressive.

which was written by the New York Times and international best selling author. I love Dennis to death. I think Pitt does, too.
I forgot its called RTA. I haven't ridden one in twenty years. I remember they were all pretty crappy back then.

Mr. Kucinich is the wrong person to spearhead the drive to election reform. If you remember, he was a presidential candidate. The same reason Kerry isn't standing on the political pulpit and shouting about election reform (which by the way, he should do)applies to Kucinich as well. He too ran a Presidential Campaign and is acting politically correct. I think it's incorrect but he has given me no reason to distrust him and his judgement. I also think Conyers is doing a wonderful job and I know Kucinich openly supports Conyer's investigation. I wish Kucinich was more like Conyers but Conyers is our standard bearer in the House and Sen. Boxer is our standard bearer in the Senate. They are doing the job to my satisfaction. My Senators are Dewine and Voinavich, thank God we at least have Kucinich. DeWine got up on the pulpit yesterday in a meeting of the Senate and basically sold shares of GM stock on the Senate floor. I'm embarrassed to be from Ohio. I think it will get better in time. Granted, the victory will be slow but the result will be positive for America.
Politically, Kucinich is smart for spearheading this cause. It'll give him a lot of national attention and exposure that he rarely gets. This is a hell of an opportunity for him and I hope he runs with it. Also, this is a very popular issue and any legislation passed will more than likely have his name on it. I say, rock and roll Dennis.

20. OK, but faulting someone for not being in the press for the right |
|
reasons is like faulting Kerry for not reporting enough votes.
Does Kucinich control what issues the media will report that he's working on? DOes Kerry control how many votes he is credited with?
In both cases, the politician's behavior certainly influences the number of votes or the amount of media attention he gets but is by no means the only factor that comes into play.
To the extent TIA's concern reflects not hearing things through the media grapevine I would reserve judgment. To the extent TIA has not received any word or support privately from Kucinich or his staff, I would take that as evidence that election reform is not Kucinich's highest priority.
All I can say is that although some people don't like all aspects of Conyers' bill (for example) I would not doubt the priorities of Conyers or any of his staff... who have been great in the background.
So what's the backchannel on Kucinich? Then we'll know where's the beef...

On the other...
election fraud in what is supposed to be the greatest democratic nation (or representative republic or whatever you choose to call it)in the world.
hmmmm... I guess you maaaaay be right.
People don't always have their priorities straight, do they?! Thanks for your insight. It was a nice way to put it in perspective.
