FYI: A new tool. Use this in some way to promote Election Fraud/Reform?
<I just spotted this being used in another DU thread (listed as an example at the end of this post). The Internet is providing us new tools that are increasing our individual/collective power (like the weekly blogcalls at democrats.com - or even this forum). Could this be another tool that proves useful? I just thought I'd throw it out there.>

About Synanim

"If you wish to be heard, first listen."

Synanim builds trust and develops empathy among its users by sidestepping the disruptive politics so often found in work groups. Users reach agreement not by compromise, but by individually reaching for the best ideas and the most lucid prose within a progression of steps.

On the surface, Synanim acts like a writing instructor: users first write, then revise, brainstorm, then edit. For example, a first step might be “Produce a written outline of key points.” Synanim users then submit their text for the whole group to read. And before beginning the next writing step, users first select an entry from among those submitted by the group.

Users may pick their own or someone elses, but Synanim tracks user choices and assigns point values to them in two ways.

1 It assigns points to entries when users select them.

2 It assigns points to votes depending on how many others select (vote for) the same entry.

This acts to unify user groups in a positive way. Users are compelled to present the best ideas as clearly they can. And they seek to understand group values so they may select the entries most other group members agree are the best.

The result is a smooth path toward consensus. Synanim uses these point values to identify a leader from within each group. It overcomes politics by selecting these leaders on the strength of their ideas and their ability to identify and champion the values of the group. And rather than producing a flat, lifeless compromise, the best ideas emerge.
