CD-ROM task force: Our first operation
OK folks, the CD-ROM has been out there for a while. I've given out many copies and I know some of you have as well.

I have many plans for the future of the CD-ROM, to get it into more people's hands. This one requires your help. If you want to be on the CD-ROM task force, here is our first mission, if you choose to accept it.

We want to get a radio talk show host to start talking about it, and encourage people to get a copy.

If I had more people and more time I would plan an all-out attack on all the talk show hosts at once. but for valid reasons I would like to run a small test first, on just one talk show host. I would like to choose one who is already sympathetic to our cause, so we have a relatively good chance of making it happen.

I would suggest either Randi Rhodes, Mike Malloy, or Laura Flanders. I think all three of them know the election was stolen and they acknowlege the problem with electronic voting.

Here's what we do.

Each of us makes a copy of the CD-ROM and sends it by mail to the host. Include a personal letter, explaining in your own words that more people need to know about election fraud, and you found this free CD-ROM and it's a great way to spread the word. And that you think if he/she talks about it on their show, and/or blog/website, that a lot more people will hopefully get a copy and learn more about the problems with our election system and also question the 04 results.

One plan would be just to ask everyone to do this with their favorite talk show host(s), on their own schedule. But I think for maximum effectiveness it would be best if several of us hit the same host in a short period of time.

Let's use this thread to pick a host and talk about timing. If we need to go offline for privacy reasons I can make it happen but I don't think this needs to be a secret operation. Even if our cover gets blown and someone shows the radio host this thread, who cares, it's not like we're doing anything wrong. We're just trying to save our democracy...

So the question now is, which talk show host would you like to hit first? Why would you choose that one?

peaceout

1. This is new to me, sounds like a great idea. Is the CD-ROM OK for Macs?
I'd like to see it before I think about where to send it.

2. I'm a mac guy, it works great.
The only problem is it doesn't start automatically, you have to launch the "index" file.

4. Back-
I would throw Thom HArtman into the mix.
And to pick up the morning drive folks- Mark & Mark -- morning sedition

I would start with Randi. I am about 12 miles from NYC, and could find time to go into the City to hand deliver a CD.
And I have my own reasons to contact AAR hosts- the continuing battle with Sequoia in NJ.
And I have some original research that AAR most likely hasnt ever covered.

NOw -- who is in Atlanta-- home to Mike Malloy. I think the personal touch would work there too. Mike is on later at niight, and its hard to get guests on his show. If a knowledgable person can be located- with a CD in Hand-- that person maybe able to get on the show as a guest.

SOooo Gary---- I would take it a step further--- a straight PR effort-- press release-- and try to get on the show- I have been on a NYC station WBAI, 99,5 NY, I was interviewed for the Dec 12th 51 Capitalmarch protest in NJ. It was a 6 minute segment.

In each city, we need a PR person- well spoken, articulate, knowledgable about the current state of affiars in ELection reform Nation wide -- HAVA, DREs, opscans, law suits, etc.

We can also look at NPR and Pacifica.

Put Election reform back on the map on Liberal radio, and use that as a TOOL to pimp Garys CD.

Please keep kicked

5. Randi was also my thought for the first round
I also have Hartman on my list but I wouldn't do him first because he doesn't have as much national exposure. I agree it would be great to get on the show. I will be on the Brad Show at some point to discuss it, but I want it to be in the greater context of "what can I do to help fix out election system" and I'm working on the rest of it. I don't want to go on the air and just say "get the CD-ROM" over and over again...

One thing I know, as I have been on several radio programs in the past - it is MUCH easier to get on when OTHER people suggest you as a guest, than when you call up and invite yourself. So when we implement this plan, we should ask people to include in their personal letter, that they use their own words to say that they think it would be a great idea to ask someone from Solar Bus to come on the show and talk about the CD-ROM.

BY THE WAY....

I am trying to shift from calling it a "CD" to calling it a "CD-ROM." I find that when I call it a CD it is somewhat confusing for some people. But most people know what a CD-ROM is, and that's basically what it is. So the labels are going to change soon, and if y'all could help me start calling it a CD-ROM it would be great.

keep up the talk, let's move forward on this soon.

7. SO might we need a one pager-- or "cliffnotes"
A list of talking points, with well thought out language. I find for my self, this helps tremendously--- and gets things framed in my mnd.

Even an organized effort to call the AAR shows-- based on a good set of talking points

8. an excellent suggestion - list of the major contents and a brief
discussion would be very helpful. It could be loaded on the web at a link - that link could be given every time the CD was discussed and could also be put in symbolman's sig line. The link could also be put on the CD itself as part of the label. The linked material, including the discussions, would best be copyright-free so bloggers and others could paste what they wanted into their desciption of the CD.

9. an issue: please read
for those who are going to engage in such activities which may result in large scale copying of the CDROM,

an issue has come to my attention about something on the CDROM, namely the "other" Votergate movie, which has caused me to decide to remove it from the CDROM.

It is going to take me some time to make a new version of the Disk, and upload a new ISO file to the place where the free download is. In the meantime, don't stop using the disk and you can still copy it. But I need to fix this before we get Mike Malloy and Randi Rhodes to get all their listeners to get their hands on it.

10. Are you ready? Let's do it!
Now that the CDROM has been updated we're ready to go.

Here's the plan. Everyone who has a CDROM, make a copy and send it to

Randi Rhodes
c/o Carmen Shamwell
641 Sixth Avenue, 4th floor
New York, New York 10019

Please put a nice label on the CDROM. Instructions are on the FAQ page.

Please include a personal letter touching on these points:

1) why you are concerned about the integrity of our elections

2) why it is important for more people to know about these problems

3) the CDROM is a useful tool for getting the informaiton out

4) the radio program would be a very powerful way to let people know about the free CDROM. if she could mention it on the air, a lot of people will download a copy and become more aware of the problems with our election system and hopefully get involved in election reform.

5) mention the "copy forward" concept where everyone who gets a copy is encouraged to make at least 3 copies and give them away.

6) midterm elections are coming up soon and we have to do something about this because there are even more Diebold machines out there now than there were before.

Of course, just use your own words and thoughts. you don't have to mention every point listed and I'm sure you have some great things to say that I didn't mention. this is just suggested list of things to mention...

You might want to add at some point that you heard her talk on the radio about how SHE voted on a touchscreen machine on 11/2/04 and she wondered what happened to her vote. personal touch always helps.

if you want you can mention the website she can send listeners to download a free copy:

http://solarbus.org/election/cd

I'm sending off mine today.

peaceout
