No women in the Conclave.
Very brave women. Their careers are ruined.

8. With them all of the way . . . |

What church is it which is based on the priesthood of all of its congregants?
I mean, do we, or do we not, recognize the living Mystical Body of Christ in everyone, to whatever extent possible? or - at least our imperfect efforts to live within the Mystical Body as best we can? Seems like I've been told that is what "church" is.

Nuns are like hen's teeth, which, in an odd way, gives them a shitload of freedom. They CAN speak truth to power, because they haven't any power, except, of course, moral power.
They will be forgiven, they will continue in their calling if they so desire, and the hierarchy will try to ignore them. It's like that Ghandi quote, where first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win, or something like that....!
Here's hoping they win, eventually.

6. For one thing, American Catholics wouldn't be importing so many |

male priests from other countries.

5. Mother church, in her infinite wisdom |
|
has only determined women have immortal souls in order to qualify them for hell.
I'm not kidding about this one.

7. One wonders why they are so afraid of us. |
|
Personally, I have great difficulty respecting anyone who is afraid, or uncomfortable, or avoidant about, whatever it is that I am. It provokes me to BUG them, to find out why . . . really.

10. Nuns have always been protesters of the first rank..ha |
|
Nuns and priests were front runners in the vietnam era protesting the war...it was the nuns and priests that first called loud protest and support for those victimized in Guatamala...it is alway so...this is not a suprise.

I wouldn't care at all if it weren't for what I know Christianity has right. I'm just sick of the lying about what is wrong.
America has abortion on demand because we live in a Culture of Death. I'm not going to ignore that for some pretty, "pro-life" story that doesn't fundamentally change anyone really.

It was noticable on the big February 15th 2003 anti-war protest in London how many clergy and how many nuns there were.

It depends on each Convent. They report to Mother Superior. Convents vary wildly by customs, just like many Catholic orders. They are really not expecting to be promoted outside the convent beyond the level of Mother Superior, so they should not have many, if any backlash.

14. There could be repercussions |
|
for those in active orders (non-contemplative) who have jobs "in the world." Many members of active orders hold important positions in hospital administration, in the higher education field, in canon law, and on many community/political boards.

13. This reminds me of the story of the nuns who "defaced" |
|
government property - in a missile silo. I couldn't beleive they sentenced those poor old ladies to hard jail time. What was even more ironic is the "community service" time in the sentence. That's what they do anyway - Duh.
