Bonds out for the season?
or perhaps at least until the whole steriods thing blows over....

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=545&ncid=755&e=1&u=/ap/20050322/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bbn_giants_bonds

Leaning his head on a crutch and repeatedly saying he was tired, Barry Bonds said he might miss the entire season following his latest knee surgery.

<snip>

Bonds said he was tired and disappointed following a winter in which he was accused of steroid use, his grand jury testimony was leaked and he had two knee operations. He blamed his troubles on the media.

1. as a Giants fan, I'm not sure how to feel about this
disappointed at not having his bat; relieved that it will be "non-steroid" baseball at SBC park this season...

4. I'm ecstatic, but I bet this is how the season will play out:
Giants and Dodgers slump for the first month while the Pads take the early season lead. The Dodgers in May up until the break will catch up and probably surpass the Pads, and the Gnats will remain out of the race, but remain in striking distance. Bonds comes back around the break, and the Gnats surge after the break, Pads slump a bit and the Dodgers stay steady until they tank the last month. Then it will be a toss-up at the end of the season to see who wins the division. Oh and the D-Backs and Rockies have no chance :p

5. Bonds will not play this season.
He's sitting it out because all of the heat on the roid users. If there is less focus on roids next season, he'll be back and will take a crack at breaking Hank's record.
But now is not the right time to break the home run record. It would cause to many problems.
