Has there ever been a better NCAA tournament?
I don't think so. I've been watching this tourney for many many years and have never ever seen anything like we've seen this year. Three overtime games in two days! Wow! This is why people love this stuff. Illinois had a GREAT comeback last night, as did Louisville, and now Kentucky ties it up at the buzzer for yet another overtime. Go Spartans! Big 10 all the way!

2. You Ninny!!!!!
Of course. When Arkansas won it, back in 1994. Bill Clinton was in the White House and all was right with the world.

Geesh.

17. I was cheering for Kentucky
Just because they were (as usual) the SEC's last great hope in the show. But I like the Spartans, always have, so was just happy to see a great game.

For my Big Ten friends like autorank - one question - was Sparks on the line or not? I thought the call was good, but would like a second opinion!

18. How on earth did they slip under the radar?
They had some stat about how Izzo now has 6 Sweet 16's, 3 Final 4's, and one title within 8 years. They've got a very talented, deep, and experienced team, yet still managed to go relatively unnoticed. They should be able to give UNC a run for their money Saturday.

25. honestly?
because they're in the big ten, or rather, not in the ACC or PAC-10. The Espn talking heads COULDN'T ignore illinois, but they seem to be on a mission to eliminate consideration of all other conferences

7. Not in my memory...

I've seen great individual games in various tournaments in the past, but nothing like this in the regional finals. 'Tis amazing.

It's moments like this that actually make me appreciate not having a specific team I'm supporting. My teams were out earlier, and I've just been enjoying the show.

8. Has there ever been a...
NCAA tournament where my brackets went bad so early? Of course there hasn't. Why I am I talking like Donald Rumsfeld? I have no idea. Should I leave this thread now? Of course I should. :)

I was hoping for a matchup between Kentucky and Louisville! That is something that is obviously not a possibility now.

13. No no! Don't leave!
We need someone else whose brackets went to hell real early. That way I don't feel so bad. Your handle is interesting, by the way. Redneck Socialist. hmmm.... Makes one think. Never mind, think its time for a beer. Oops, sound like bush. Sorry.

You can't have a better weekend of BB..... Illinois and MSU in the finals.... that is my wish...

Tom Izzo has got a team with talent and he definetly has got the brains. I was really surprized to see Drew Nietzel sitting out so much in the second half and didn't play at all in the overtimes. Even though Hill didn't really produce to much... he didn't hurt the team either.
He must have felt Nietzel didn't match up as well against Kentucky.

We won so I guess he knew what he was doing.

:toast: to MSU and Coach Izzo!!

Izzo deserves to be included with the elite coaches. I thought he was close before today, but to do it with this group... He's terrific.

This MSU group is fun to watch.

22. I grew up an hour north of Izzo....
I remember Tom Izzo and Steve Mariucci as outstanding athetes in H.S.

Izzo also coached my Brother in Law when he was the head coach at Ishpeming High School. My BinL's father took tons of pictures of his son playing in games and during practice. In many of them you can see a young Tom Izzo coaching his team. I told my sister that they should make a scrap book of those shots and give one to Tom. These aren't regular photos either... they are 8 x 10s....taken with a professional camera.

Anyway... even if State loses to UNC... they made a great run. But they are playing the best ball they have played all season...so it should be another great game.

Go State....
