I give up! I'm changing my Milwaukee Brewers avatar!
Now. Don't get me wrong. I am still a Brewers fan. That's something I can't change, no matter how depressing the reality may be. And, in the long term, there is hope in Milwaukee, with a new owner and some fair young talent on board.

It's just that I joked about the Brewers starting a losing streak when I changed my avatar one week ago today. And superstition in baseball still rules, no matter what the sabermetric geeks say. So the avatar is gone.

The only question that remains: What will replace it?

And if the avatar has that much power, should I use this power now or keep it in reserve? Should I use the power of the avatar for good or for evil? Should I use it to condemn teams that challenge my favorites?

In other words, I am willing to be convinced. If you want me to start a losing streak by changing my avatar to the logo of a particular team, convince me of the goodness of such a move.

All right. Have at it.

4. Well, that's two Seeknay votes, and one Redbird tally.
Edited on Fri Apr-22-05 04:32 PM by HuckleB
But I'll leave the voting open for now.

Hmm. Why do I suspect that no Seeknay fan would even open a thread about the Brewers?

:D

7. I'm telling ya, the power of the avatar is scary.
The day I change it back, the Brewers win 6-1, on an unexpected complete game, to end the seven game losing streak started by my avatar!

Salud!

8. Oh, I totally respect the avatar mojo.
I put up a Jayhawk avatar when March Madness came around, and my beloved Kansas team got upset in the first round. :-(

9. Don't worry, that's my team that your team is playing today
I see the Giants are ahead, 5-2 in the sixth.

For the Giants this year, no lead is too safe in the middle innings. So relax.

12. No, not the Twins
we do not want them to go on a losing streak (especially since they are currently in Detroit).

11. Please change it to a White Sox avatar
I beseech you as a diehard Twins fan! And it will not even compete with you as we are AL and you are NL.

13. I will consider it, if needed.
(Especially since I've grown to like the current Twins a great deal.) But the Twins will likely be a-OK, IMHO. I suspect that they'll reel the Sox back in by July at the latest, as the Sox pitching can't maintain its current pace, and the Sox are a self-destructive, mediocre ball club on offense, IMHO.

Salud!

14. True enough - The Wox will swoon
but right now they are on a bazillion game winning streak.

Good thing though, Ozzie Guillen is not afraid to add to the rancor in the clubhouse by calling his players and former players out in the media. It has been good humor hearing how he really feels about Frank Thomas and Magglio Ordonez.

15. LOL! Indeed.
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 09:03 AM by HuckleB
Ozzie does entertain with his self-destructive behavior, don't he?

From a piece in last Friday's Chi-Tribune:

"He's a piece of ," Guillen told Sox beat writers after learning of Ordonez's contempt for Guillen and alleging his manager steered him away from the Sox and to Detroit.

"He's a , that's what he is," Guillen continued. "He's another Venezuelan . him.

"He has an enemy. Now he has a big one. He knows I can him a lot of different ways. He better shut the up and play for the Detroit Tigers."

...

"Why do I have to apologize to him?" Guillen responded while sitting in his office chair and tapping his right foot frequently. "Who the is Magglio Ordonez? Why ever talk about me? He doesn't do for me. But if he thinks I'm his enemy, he has a big enemy. He knows me.

...

"... A couple people asked me about it, and was nice about his injury and . I don't give a what he does for the rest of his life. He with the wrong guy."

Salud.

23. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Stay quiet. Nice and calm and easy and slow and quiet.

They've lost three of four since the two of you partied it up on Friday. That's what happens when we get all showy. I learned my lesson. Now you gotta follow suit.

That said...

25. I wouldn't give it up yet.
With the way they have played lately, they're going to be a powerhouse in the NL central and will give the Cardinals a run for their money. I'm sometimes wrong on this, but I predict the Brewers should win 95-97 games this season.

when I gave it up.

Giving it up was the best thing I could have done!
