Royals tabbed to host '12 All-Star Game
KANSAS CITY -- After years of waiting, the Major League All-Star Game is a reality for Kansas City and the Royals.

Commissioner Bud Selig announced late Wednesday afternoon that the 2012 All-Star Game will be held at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

This will be the city's third All-Star Game, and the second for the Royals, who also were hosts to the 44th Midsummer Classic in 1973.

(snip)

Selig had promised in 2006 that Kansas City would get an All-Star Game between 2010 and 2014 if a tax referendum to fund stadium renovations was passed. Jackson County taxpayers said yes, and the $275 million in improvements was completed last year....

(no Fenway for its 100 anniversary)

1. Could they do it this year instead?

It needs to get the hell out of Arizona pronto, lest Sheriff Joke pull over half the players on their way to the game and detain them. So KC this year, and Fenway in 2012!

edit: of course, Selig is such a douche he probably likes AB 1070. :eyes:

2. Next year is Arizona. This year is Anaheim/Azuza/Cucamonga.
And they have to rotate between AL & NL.

3. Well, who says they have to rotate?
Again, just like with Galarraga/Joyce, God Selig could dictate otherwise. But he just won't. Because he's a giant douche.

And if it must be an NL city next year, I vote for New York, where Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier (the Mets' butt-ugly colors are a combination of Brroklyn Dodger blue and the Giants' orange).
