We arent a Traditional Power House |
|
I'm sick of hearing about Wisconsin being some establishment program to TCU. I'm tired of hearing about David vs Goliath. Wisconsin only became relevant in the 90s, and they havent been to a Rose Bowl since 2000. You really could only say they are a good program, not great...not yet.
And Hell, TCU is favored in this game! Yet much to the chagrin of the Badgers, the media will play up this whole BS Traditional Power House vs Cinderella argument that works as great Bulletin board material for TCU.

You've been good for longer than TCU. I remember seeing TCU and Vanderbilt play in Nashville in 1997, and Vandy beat them 40-16.

3. There's a reason for all that David and Goliath stuff.. |
|
Wisconsin plays in the Big Ten, TCU the MWC. The Badgers should win.
Sounds to me like you're trying to lower expectations.

Where did I hear that again? Oh, yeah http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=215x168363#168402I don't see it as lowering expectations, but when the Badgers kick their ass, the response is going to be "Well, that was expected" by people like you that would, if Wisconsin lost, hop on the "Big Ten sucks ass" bandwagon. Just sayin'

6. I've mentioned in the past |

I consider the Big Ten an elite conference. I just don't believe, football wise, they are anywhere near the SEC. And overall, in all sports, the Pac-10 is the clear leader in championships won. My primary beef with the Big Ten and it's supporters is they seem inordinately full of themselves. And since the conference, up until last year, hadn't had a winning bowl season since 2002, it doesn't appear to make a whole lot of sense.
Yes I do expect Wisconsin to win the Rose Bowl. If the winner of the Big Ten and the conqueror of OSU can't defeat the MWC champion, it will be a major blackeye for the conference. Not quite on the order of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl for OU and the Big 12, but a blackeye nonetheless.

7. Let's talk about the players on the field |
|
Something that never gets mentioned when a BCS team plays someone less.
If there is a team that can stop Wisconsin's massive lineman and Clay/White it is TCU. Ever since Gary Patterson took over their defense has been consistently ranked in the top 10 or top 20. They currently have two starting linebackers in the NFL that were drafted this year. Colts and Cardinals(As far as linebackers for the team go, Washington is playing the best).
The Tolzien and Dalton match-up should be very interesting. Tolzien doesn't get a lot of press because Wisconsin has that line, Clay/White, and overall a terrific running game, but he is very good himself. Andy Dalton has played terrific football the last few years at TCU. 66%, 9 YPA, 26 TDs-6 Ints this year. TCU also runs the ball well but not as well as Wisconsin who is great.
