Had there been any rumors about this? At first I thought hiring "the kid" was a mistake, but I can't bitch about the results...

1. I saw a title of an article today that read something like "Theo and Red
Sox reach agreement" but I didn't read it. Should have, because this is very sudden.

Damn!

3. Things are going to be very very different next year with him gone,
and most likely Manny and Johnny Damon. My only consolation is that the Yankees are so damn old they ain't gonna win it all again until they realize they have to go through a few lean years and groom younger players, instead of buying very good (often, great) players who are--alas--at the end of their careers!

5. Read Boston.com for some scathing attacks on Lucchino
Lucchino is an ass who will ultimately destroy the Red Sox. Shaunnessey from the Globe is complicit in this whole mess. One poster on Boston.com compared his article with Judith Miller and the Plame case since
essentially the Globe owns 17% of the Red Sox. As a newspaper they cannot accurately and fairly report on the Red Sox.
