June Jones resigns as UH coach

June Jones has resigned as University of Hawai'i head football coach, according to his close friend, Al Souza.

Jones resigned this morning, citing among other things a lack of loyalty and commitment from athletic department leaders.

"This breaks his heart," Souza said of Jones' decision to leave.

Jones also sent letters to friends announcing that he is resigning after nine seasons. He thanked his friends for their support in the letter, in which he listed several reasons why he would no longer coach at the school. Full details of the letter were not available.

tough if you asked me. But he's taken them probably as far as they can go without a change in philosophy. I don't know, I would think getting to go to school in Hawaii for free would be a huge recruiting tool but I suppose the distance from home is also a tough sell

2. SMU has offered

somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.7-2.0 million for Jones. Don't know if anyone else is pursuing him. (current salary about eight hundred grand)
