Petrino has been held to a higher standard than other coaches who have faced similar situations. Lou Holtz comes to mind, and one other that I can't recall at the moment. Both quit the pro ranks before the end of the season, and pretty much got a pass. The difference in pro ball and college is huge, and it's been shown that some coaches are not suited for the pro ranks, but excel among the college ranks. One of the biggest differences is in the pro ranks, you have grown men who are the proverbial "old dogs, new tricks" guys, and in college you have the young, and malleable, new puppies, who can be taught, and molded into the kind of player a coach is looking for. I think Petrino is one of them. As for coming to Arkansas, I can't fault him for taking advantage of the opportunity. I think he's doing a pretty good job so far, given the fact, and noone can honestly dispute this, that the boys at ESpiN, spent months verbally trashing Arkansas, Petrino, and openly discouraging recruits from considering UA. Coaches, who we know, are over-paid professionals are fair game, but when you try to influence players using the kind of disgusting rhetoric of espin, that's going too far. Mallet coming to Arkansas will help recruiting, and most believe he is the quarterback for the 09 season, but, I believe he will be faced with taking the job from Nathan Dick. Ever since I saw him play in the Texas-Oklahoma Oil City bowl, I believe, I thought, there's no way this kid doesn't end up playing on Saturday. I've rambled on here too much, but I do get carried away a little when it comes to the Razorbacks. Not a grad myself, blue collar construction worker, but I am proud to have a son and daughter-in-law who are UA grads. I'm proud of them both. Thanks, and of course, GO HOGS!!! quickesst
