Poll question: Most hated sports franchise
Every sport seems to have one team that everyone outside of the home city hates. Which one do you dislike the most and why?
Mine is the Dallas Cowboys as many of you know. Because one they are rivals to my Skins, two, I hate the "America's Team" bullshit and don't even get me started on the hole in the Texas Stadium so "God could watch his favorite team"..:puke:

1. For me it's the Montreal Canadiens.
The Stanley Cup has been around for almost a hundred years now, and the Habs have won 26% of them. My whole childhood was spent watching the Bruins lose to Montreal. x(

47. And I STILL hate the Habs for that reason. I'll root for the Leafs against them...
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 08:15 PM by Captain Hilts
but remember Pat Quinn's hit on Orr and I get pissed off all over again.

Grew up rooting for the Bruins. Orr was a God. Still is.

I live in DC and there are a LOT of Caps/Bruins hybrid fans. Caps jerseys and a Bruins cap. That kind of thing.

3. Boston Red Sox
Though the Denver Broncos are tied in a very close second with the Yankees followed by the Dallas Cowboys.

Cleveland fans will understand my selection of the Red Sox, Broncos and Yankees.

I dislike the Cowboys more than ever because they remind me of George Bush. It's weird, but they do.

Angels got Mo Vaughn from the Red Sox several years ago. He did great till
he hurt himself again. I used to love it when the Angels beat the Yankees in Yankee Stadium with a Timmy Salmon home run. I think the Angels biggest rivarly has always been the Texas Rangers and the Oakland A's. Both have knocked the Angels out of the playoffs for more years than they care to remember.

I miss the big fish!

22. Since 1961, the Angels have been to the playoffs 8 times...
and lost to the Red Sox in 4 of them, 3 times since 2004. I figured this would have stirred up more animosity among fans toward the Sox.

I like the Angels, they seem to have had the Yankees number for a while now.

27. Don't know why but...
Every team in Baseball used to be nervous about playing the Yankees. The Angels never had, and like I said, Tim Salmon used to love to hit home runs there, also in Texas stadium. I would guess the new guys are confident too.. That confidence has made a lot of difference in the last few years.

When they left Oakland moved down to the Los Angeles area. All the Oakland fans felt betrayed by Al Davis.

Montana to Clark which set the 49ERS on to their many Superbowl runs. And who was the catch against? Yeah, the Cowboys. Meh!!

Even today I have an autographed Dwight Clark photo of the catch.

29. Given a choice
Between Eddie D and Al Davis, I would go with Eddie D any time, however, its because of him, that the Niners went into a huge slump and didn't plan for the 49ers future. Now, Dr. York still knows nothing about Football, but His son, might be the new hope for the 49ers organization. He's done well so far.. and I will always be part of the 49er Faithful, in that respect.

In addition, unlike the Cowboys, the Yankees have actually won in the postseason in the last decade.

The Cowboys get waayyyyy too much press and TV coverage for being mostly mediocre ever since Aikman retired.

The one that thinks they deserve that title simply because their media mogul owner got cable networks throughout the country to carry his station. Also the team with sixteen straight playoff appearance but only one title, and that one against a teams with almost a half century of futility.

The old Cowboys got beat by Baltimore and twice by Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl. They only were able to beat the lowly Dolphins and Broncos. America's Team? No just good contenders. Then the ownership changed and they were jerks.

They think they are actually better than other teams. In truth, they have have a horrible organization that uses its huge salary advantage to "succeed".

Their payroll is 50% larger than the second-highest club. It's ridiculous.

P.S. If the question were most hated owner, I would choose the Cowboys hands down.

Really two sides of the same "evil empire" coin that have comparatively unlimited pocketbooks and seem to always get insanely disproportionate amounts of media coverage and air time, not only in terms of present day news and television, but also in discussions about baseball history.

the arlington clownboys... the yankees deserve more of my hate. at least the packers can compete with teams with bigger wallets due to the history and mystique of the franchiese, not to mention lambeau field and the fans. the yankees can buy a championship calibir team worth of players and not break a sweat. that annoys me more than anything. you can buy a championship team, getting them to play together is another matter entirely. there is where karma bites the yankees on the ass.

i don't think i'd have made it as a pro athlete, lack of talent, motivation, and laziness aside.... i'm just not greedy enough like some players. it used to be you only left your team when you retired or got traded. it wasn't always about the money. money makes people do the craziest and stupidest things.

as team owners go, jerry jones can rot in hell, same with steinbrenner and his kids.
