Win or lose, it's always close. Good opponent or bad opponent, it's always close!

Just asking. Turning in--have a good night!

3. Notre Dame of course! I posted it to ThorsHammer without the name &
figured he'd know--he did!

Notre Damne beat Rutgers last night by 10--but with about a minute and a half left, it was only 4. They seem to either win by a few, or lose by a few. And they make it close with teams they are much better than (Rutgers) and also with teams who are ranked--eg, beating BC by 3, UCONN by 2, and then losing to Pitt by 2.

2. Good question - sloppy win, but I'll take it
I think we manage to play to the level of the opponent more often than not. We don't look as sharp vs. lesser teams, look ok vs. similar teams, and usually step up vs. better teams. I'm glad that we're winning more of them than we're losing, but it does make me nervous at times. Tonight would have been a devestating loss, and I'm glad we got the job done, no matter how sloppy we looked at times. The ACC bubble teams have also stumbled recently - GT lost a very winnable game at Wake, and VT fell to Clemson on a last second dunk. After last year I'm not taking anything for granted and still want a win vs. Pitt and in the BET, but I think we're in fair shape now. Winning a few more couldn't hurt for seeding purposes. I'd much rather be a 6-7 seed and matchup with a 2-3 than be an 8-9 and have to play a 1.

bigwill1 - joey and I are both ND fans, and we're talking about the basketball season.

4. True--since they seem to play at their opponent's level, being a #6
seed makes me think they could pull a few upsets along the way!:)

5. Just read Yahoo Sports article about teams on the "bubble"...they
put 5 teams in from the Big East, with ND at the top of the bubble for #6--they seem to think ND is pretty much in already.

6. 5 would be disastrous
My take was that 6 are in, 7 are likely, and 8 might be possible. Right now UConn, BC, Cuse, and Nova are locks; Pitt is more or less a lock; at least one from ND and GT is in; and WVU has a chance with a win at SHU and one BET win (they'd be 9-7, with 20 wins and OOC wins over LSU, NC St, and GWU). I think both of us agreed that we need to beat Pitt and win one BET game to be safe, but I'd be shocked if the BE only gets 6 spots.

7. Yeah...and from what I read...they seem to think ND is at the top
of the 30 or so teams they consider on the bubble--they have a better record than most, and they did note that right now they have 9 conference wins, which is a lot--in the conference that produced the last two national champs!

8. Joey, I'm taking my ball and going home
No offense to Rutgers, who actually did show up to play, but that was the biggest effin egg we could lay tonight. After tonight, I can't complain if we get left out. We have done everything possible to burst our own bubble, and do not deserve a spot based on our own merit (we may get one, but it would definitely be backing in). I like Brey, but IMO his honeymoon is over. This makes 2 straight years of underacheiving and falling flat at the end of the year. :wtf:

9. Hey I already left for home!
You're right, it sucks. And, as you note, this is the second year when they seemed to have it, but then just couldn't put it together right at the end. They really should have beaten Pitt last weekend. That was a bad sign for last night's game.

I sort of hope we don't get a bid--they haven't shown me anything in the past two weeks that makes me think they're going to do well at all--probably just a first-round loss, and I think I don't want to see that.

Well, there's always football to look forward to now that we have Weis!:)
