Colleges are allowing coed dorm rooms

Erik Youngdahl and Michelle Garcia share a dorm room at Connecticut's Wesleyan University. But they say there's no funny business going on. Really. They mean it.

They have set up their beds side-by-side like Lucy and Ricky in "I Love Lucy," and avert their eyes when one of them is changing clothes.

"People are shocked to hear that it's happening and even that it's possible," said Youngdahl, a 20-year-old sophomore. But "once you actually live in it, it doesn't actually turn into a big deal."

...

At least two dozen schools, including Brown University, the University of Pennsylvania, Oberlin College, Clark University and the California Institute of Technology, allow some or all students to share a room with anyone they choose — including someone of the opposite sex. This spring, as students sign up for next year's room, more schools are following suit, including Stanford University.

2. Reminds me of "The Harrad Experiment" without the expectation of sex between the roomates.

4. For some one that was in college at 'pantie raid' days this is odd.
Course one has to say that your room mate is better when they are good for each other and not the sex of the person. I am so opened minded I guess I would just say, what ever you think works. I re-call my husband working on the Ak. pipeline and and he said both sexes using the bath rooms was very up setting to most of the men working on line. He never said what the women thought.

5. reminds me of an old story . . . The Unintentional Panty Raid . . .
back in the day, when I was living in a college dorm, the residents of an all-women house on campus got into a bit of an internal prankfest . . .

it began with the upperclassmen in the house stealing all of the underwear from the freshmen students' rooms . . . now, it seems that one of my dorm-mates was dating one of these women, and she asked him to be the caretaker of said underwear for the duration . . . so all of the freshman underwear from this house ended up in a footlocker in his room . . .

not to be outdone, the freshmen returned the favor and stole all of the upperclass students' underwear . . . this same guy happened to be in the house while this was happening, and this time he offered to be the caretaker of said underwear . . . so all of the upperclass underwear ended up in the same trunk . . .

as we sat around laughing about the whole affair, it occurred to someone or other that this guy -- and us, his friends -- were in a position of considerable power . . . with complete control of all of the underwear from this house, we set about thinking up demands that we might make for its safe return . . .

now, women (or most men, for that matter) don't like being without clean underwear for extended periods of time . . . they were open to anything, just as long as they got their underwear back . . .

we decided on a formal lasagna dinner at their house, complete with banana daiquiris, cost to be shared by both parties . . . so that Saturday, we set out in formal procession, carrying the footlocker containing the unmentionables . . . we were all in coats and ties, the women were all in formal dresses, and were introduced one at a time as they descended the staircase . . .

the dinner was great, a good time was had by all, and they got their stuff back . . . :patriot:
