I don't go to the choice forum |

I don't think it is too much to ask that those of you on DU who don't agree with gay rights at least stay out of our forum. If you don't think we should get married, fine, but don't come here. Just like I don't go to the Choice forum don't come here. Stay in the other how many ever forums DU has.

1. If we are hetero and agree with gay rights, can we stay? |
|
And consider this: people can change, you know. If you ban those who don't share your views, you increase the likelihood that they will stay with their anti-gay stance. Isn't that counterproductive? Whatever happened to communicating; discussing; sharing?

my problem is with people who post in this forum about how we don't really need our rights.

3. tell me how scary baggy pants and video games are again? |

Nobody is "banned". DSC is just asking politely for some consideration. People are still free to be assholes, if you must.

stick a sock in it.
This may come as a shock, but minorities actually like to have a small carved out area from time to time where they can do something OTHER than endlessly repeat the same shit to the benevolent but confused majority spewing their same endless shit 24/7. This is true for ALL groups. As the OP pointed out, women would like to occasionally have a space to discuss their bodies without it always being about arguing with men. People of color actually appreciate not having every conversation about race turn into arguing with white folks who don't get it.
Likewise, the oppressed majority will survive just fine without inserting their opinions about why gays should be oppressed just a little into EVERY conversation about gay rights on DU.
If you want to come here to fight for gay rights, or discuss issues affecting equality, that's great. But I'm fairly sure this forum doesn't need yet another straight person coming here to instruct the gays on how they aren't "doing it right." Shit, we never thought of communicating and discussing, you know?
