Indiana House Approves Anti-Gay Amendment
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/03/032205indiana.htm

The Indiana House of Representatives late Tuesday afternoon passed a bill that would lead to a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.

The measure has already passed in the Senate. (story)

Indiana already has a Defense of Marriage law but many lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say it is not enough to prevent judges from allowing gay marriage.

1. Send this to the Supremes.....
Let's finally get the Constitutionality
of keeping the same rights straight married couples
get from gay and lesbian married couples.

2. gay marraige
I'm a lesbian and have been out for 30 years and I don't get this gay/lesbian marriage discussion. As a woman and a feminist I do not want to embrace the patriarcy in any way. Marriage was created to protect property and to exploit women. I hate the predudice that this movement has brought out in the anti marriage people, but come on women...Do we want to join our oppressors? Let's think of something more original than marriage.

3. are you now or have you ever been involved with another woman?
Aside from that, this from Indiana is certainly not surprising. Indiana is solidly red; always has been; probably always will be.

4. Welcome to DU bellinghambell
I'm a straight married woman and I
thought this conversation was about
getting the same rights given by
the Federal government to straight
married couples to those gay and
lesbian couples in committed partnerships
or are legal contracts of interest
to you and yours?

5. To sight just one example of the reason we care
We have a lesbian couple who live in seperate continents due to not being able to emmigrate to one country. A right they would have as a married, straight couple.
