Question about measuring air flow with rotometers. |
|
Should one use the bottom of the floating ball, middle or, please not, the top of the ball.
I was always taught the bottom of the ball.
What sayest DUers.

1. I've heard bottom and middle. |
|
It was explained to me that it really didn't make a difference, as long as you are consistant in your settings. Given that, it probably wouldn't make any difference if you used the top, too. Disclaimer: This was not in any scientific measurement, but in process control.

4. Thanks. Tomorrow I'll call the manufacturer. |

You are correct in that it would make no difference as long as it is consistent. The bottom just seems more a defined point offering more accurate interpolation.
Environmental testing for me.
Checked your website. If you effected to serve our country, let me add greatly more thanks.

That's how they're calibrated, so that's how you should read 'em.
Incidentally, there are rotometers with non-spherical floats (although I've never used one of those). Can't say I've ever seen the word rotometer on DU before. Guess there's a first time for everything.

6. Next should be digital, nothing to confuse. |

I have to wonder what shapes would look fun. Perhaps I'm feeling just what you mean.
Hope you enjoy A-squared land. I miss my youth once spent there.
