Beginnin t'think Mighty Mouse kinda sux: th'frickin scroll ball has t'be cleaned regularly |
|
Cleaning helps some and blowing air into it as suggested by a link at th'link below does help -- but it seems like I'm cleanin it every few weeks
Just sayin

It's a fairly nice mouse, at least in the wireless version (I've had a lot of pointer jumping with two or three wired ones, but never with wireless). But it does need frequent cleaning. Eventually I dismantled my current one, because you can't really get all the crud out from the outside: but to do that you need to break it and glue it back together afterwards, which is idiotic. After the last time it stopped scrolling I gave up and replaced it with a Logitech MX Revolution, which is pretty good: the spinnable scroll wheel is great for zipping back and forth in long documents.

2. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look at it. I do a lot of long up/down scrolling |

3. I LOVE my MX Revolution. |
|
I found I was taking it all over the house (several workstations), so I got another one for downstairs.

4. I wish it were Bluetooth, though |
|
It's annoying having to use a USB port for the dongle, when the Mac already has Bluetooth built in. Apparently Logitech do make a Bluetooth version, but only bundled with a keyboard which I don't want.

5. Didn't think I'd be too crazy |

about the touch pad when I got my MacBook.
But I actually love it now and don't think I'll get a regular mouse, unless I get a big monitor.

The touchpad is nice, and I like being able to do two-finger stuff

6. I have a wireless Targus bluetooth mouse |
|
Which I love using. I'd rather use that than the Mighty Mouse. Haven't had to clean anything on it, just replace the batteries about once a month or so.

8. Have you considered washing your hands? |

Seriously, though, I got the wireless one with my iMac, and I haven't had any problems with dirt at all. I was pleased to discover that they made them to have left and right clicks now (I don't think the first models had that ability).
I do, however, find that when I put a pair of freshly recharged batteries in it, the iStat Pro widget reports them as only being at 55% capacity.

Bluetooth all the way.
I can't stand Apple mice. IMHO, the one thing they suck at. Too much design over function there
