What's happened to Emeril? |
|
I haven't watched his show for many moons, but caught a bit today. He has gained a huge amount of weight, and he doesn't look particularly happy or well.
Hangin' out with Mario too much?
Or what?
I hope he gets himself together.

He looks seriously unwell to me. Time to take a break and get a personal trainer or something. Maybe Martha can whip him into shape.

4. No new "Emeril Live" shows on the Food Network |
|
"Essence of Emeril" will continue to be produced but Emeril & the Food Network folks couldn't agree on a contract so they've cancelled production of "Emeril Live". Re-runs will continue, but no new shows.
Having said that, I don't know how or if the recent purchase by Martha Stewart will effect that - I read that her purchase included Emeril, books, tv rights.

5. if I were Emeril, I'd cash out... |
|
...and go relax for a couple of years. Geez. He's been a workaholic, and a cash cow for a lotta folks.

6. Why would either of them do this? |
|
I heard this the other day. He claims he was looking for new oportunities to market his brand and she claims she is always looking for new ideas. They both sell cookware and cookbooks. Are their audiences so different? I just can't figure out why either of them would want this.

7. They also cancelled Mario Batali |
|
They're a low cost operation. When star gets too big, they simply let them go. Nothing wrong with that since they give them a start.
Emeril still owns his name and his restaurants. My understanding is that Martha gets the books and the hard goods lines.

Is the Food Network retaining him as an Iron Chef, or is the guy who won the recent Iron Chef competion replacing him? I never heard.

I recall reading something to the effect of if they didn't want Molto Mario they didn't get him for Iron chef either.
Molto Mario was a very good show, very educational. 30 minutes to some amazing meals usually including fresh pasta.

9. Oprah doesn't want any competition |
|
You know she's buying out his franchises or network or something....
That said, I can't say the last couple of years have been all that kind to me either, weight-wise.

people tell me he has alcoholism. if you notice in his shows he uses lots of alcohol in his dishes. he gets his drink on and cooks. you ever go out to breakfast after the bars close. the difference he cooks at home.
