1. I might make soup in the crockpot |
|
Start it in the morning and let it simmer on low all day.

2. Short Ribs or Roast a Chicken |
|
You can roast a chicken in the morning---Then carve the breast up for chicken salad tomorrow then throw the rest (legs, wings, carcces) in a stock pot for soup. You'll have a lovely meaty soup in a few hours. Roast some onions, carrots and garlic with the chicken then throw them in your broth for a wonderful rich flavor.
Or make braised shortribs with lots of mashed potatoes to sop up the gravy.

5. Good rich tomato sauce that takes hours, then a big lasagna. |
|
I just took some leftover lasagna out of the freezer today and can't wait to eat it tonight. It's an all day project for me.

Doesn't matter what kind, as long as it keeps me warm!
BTW, I'm a teacher, too. We are getting snow right now, but I don't think it will be enough to be off the whole day. It has to snow A LOT for that to happen. :( ;)

7. I always crave bbq spareribs when it snows. |
|
Probably because of the juxtaposition of craving "sunny" food when it is snowing outside. I'd be doing a roast, maybe a pot roast with root veggies or good old fashioned chicken in a pot if I had to pick a winter dish.
But the ribs are very satisfying. :hi:

My son-in-law has a delicious recipe. You reminded me I need to get the turkey out of the freezer.
We even had a snow day here this year.
