Maximum FSB Termination when overclocking a Q9550 CPU?
I want to get my Q9550 (E0 stepping) to run at 4GHz (8.5x470MHz).

My mobo is an Asus P5Q Deluxe (fantastic board...)

Of course, at 8.5x450MHz, I have to max out the CPU's voltage at 1.3625v.

Some have said fiddling with the FSB Termination (vtt) and the GTL strapping will make a difference. I've played around with these and had no luck so far, go figure.

As I use all four RAM slots, I have the Northbridge volted at 1.36v (default is 1.10) and RAM tests pass.

Some people have gotten theirs to do 450MHz bus with only 1.28 or 1.30v. :wow:

I know no two CPUs are truly alike, but I refuse to believe mine really needs another 0.06v to make it go anywhere. Or am naive.

Have you tried fiddling with the Q9xxx series? If so, have you had success at higher FSB settings?

Thx!
