Is there a way?
Is there a way to convert mp4's so I can copy them on cd and play them in my dvd player? Any free programs to do this?
Thanks in advance.

1. WinFF
http://winff.org/html/index_html

It will convert most anything to anything, audio or video.

Convert the mp4 to a CD wav, and then use whatever CD burning program you've got from there.

I'm not sure how it goes with various DRM protected stuff. The various linux tools I've got on my machine don't choke on much, but I don't push it. My own perspective is that if someone doesn't want me to copy my legally acquired music for my own private use, or they make it too much of a bother to convert formats for my various players, then I don't have to listen to them.

6. One of the options is "DVD format"

(whatever that actually is) - and you have the option of PAL or NTSC (NTSC for the US)

I've never found a combo (to/from) that it couldn't handle, but I don't need to use it too often

edit to ask for clarification: are you trying to play a CD in your DVD player (but not the type in your computer, but a stand-alone one? is that what you're asking? - if so, I suspect every DVD player differs in which formats it can play, many will play CDs that have various formats, but again, it is specific to each player)

edit again to say: some of the possibilites are VCD, DivX, XVid - but again, you'll have to check the specs of your DVD player (unless it's in your computer, in which case it can do all of them, long as you have the proper codecs installed) - but if a standalone player, Google your model to find out which formats it can support

Hope somewhere within here there's an answer to your question, lol
