Before Uninstall/Reinstall of FireFox, What Files to Save? |
|
I installed FF 1.0.3 when it was released and ever since FF has been bugging out. Most annoying problem is that about half the time, when I load it, all menus, buttons, etc are completely disabled EXCEPT for the "updates available" button, which tells me FF 1.0.3 is available (Sadly "Thanks! Already installed it! Please unlock toolbar buttons!" is not an available option on the Tools menu). It's also slowed to a crawl when loading. This is not even to mention the fact that certain extensions have ceased to work due to the upgrade.
So I've decided I'm going to wipe FF out and reinstall, probably roll back to 1.0.2 or something.
I already have my list of extensions exported and I know I'll have to export my bookmarks. Themes are not an issue, as I only use Whitehart, so that'll just be something I'll install once I'm back up and running. But I have made a lot of changes to my about:config file, as well as mods to toolbars out the wazoo, etc. What files and such do I need to retain/backup in order to get FF back to where I want it once I have completed the wipe? Chrome, etc.
Thanks for help.

PS Yes, Opera users, I've tried Opera. And yes, it's a grear browser. And yes, I'm considering going back to it. But FF has some extension I have come to rely on, and I'm not sure Opera has similar features built-in.

I found the instructions for upgrading, but didn't bookmark them. (kicking self). Go over to www.mozillazine.org ..search in the Firefox support forums. I'm sure you'll find it, it was a big topic at the time. Involves moving and deleting some files, but couldn't tell you which, or what to do with them.
