I was trying to chase down and kill a coolweb bug, inadvertently I screwed up the my system and had to reinstall my windows, essentially i'm starting clean.
The problem now is, I've got my screen sizes messed up, I use the large fonts on DU, and even though i'm set to large they look small, and normal is microscopic. I'm using 98+, I've been to my display panel, adjusted the settings there, used the font adjust on my toolbar, and they're still to damn small.
How do I fix this?

Do you have a disk with specific drivers for your video? If not, the first thing I would try is determining exactly what your video card is and download updated drivers for it.
Windows 98 may or may not have a specific driver for your video, and even if it does, it may not be up-to-date, which can cause these kinds of problems. Typically on a fresh Windows install, all you get is the generic VGA driver, which doesn't allow much in the way of customization of your display.

2. couple of other "tricks" |
|
is it possible the re-install changed your screen resolution? ... if you want to try a larger resolution, right click on your desktop and choose "properties" ... then click on the "settings" tab and move the slide control for screen resolution to the left (i.e. smaller numbers = larger display) ...
tip two is to install Firefox ... with a simple press of CTRL-+ (control key and plus key simultaneously) you can make your browser font larger ... you can repeat this command as many times as you need ...
you can also do this in IE as follows: click on the IE "view" menu and then select "text size" ... choose a larger text size ... note: some web pages do not acknowledge this text size override ... if you want to force all pages to recognize the font size increase you specified, also do the following (in IE): click "tools" and then "internet options" ... then click the button labeled "accessibility" ... check the box that says "ignore font sizes specified on web pages" and then click "OK" ... some pages will not look so good but this will give you a larger font size ...
