I know what my dog is now!!
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 04:56 PM by AValdoux
I have a brindle colored mixed breed dog, Yaeger, that we got from a local vet's rescue program. He was 8 weeks old and they told us he was 1/2 lab, 1/2 mastiff. He never grew big enough to be mastiff so we just assumed he was 1/2 pit bull because of the brindle coloring. He is 3 YO now and weighs about 75 lbs.

A friend of my husband's who does a lot of hunting with dogs came out to our house this weekend. He saw our dog and told us, "There's no pit bull in him, he's a leopard cur with a little catahoula" We were stunned. Sure enough I looked it up on the internet and I have a Leopard Cur. It is so weird to see pictures of your dog you thought was a one of a kind mutt. The ironic part is my husband always wanted a coon hound or blood hound but they were too expensive. Well he's got one now.

We don't use Yaeger for hunting, my husband doesn't hunt. He was neutered when we got him at 8 weeks and is as gentle as lamb. In fact he is too submissive around other dogs to hunt with a pack. Also he spends a lot of his time in our house. He has a bed in two different rooms of our house. I probably have the most spoiled house leopard cur.

1. We either have or had a catahoula at the shelter!
I hear they are pretty expensive as well, but I know nothing about hound dogs.

6. Beautiful! Look at those eyes :-)
Cindy has one gold eye and one brown eye. It matches her dark brown on brown colored coat :-).

2. We adopted Cindy from a city animal shelter
as an eight week old puppy. They listed her as an Australian Shepherd! I think she looks like a Catahoula Leopard, so that is what I call her :-). She's a great dog.

Do you have a picture of Yaeger to post?
