Why do cats decide they don't like food they have eaten for |
|
a long time? I have 5 half eaten cans in the frig & the dry food will not at all. He is NOT sick, happy, playful, active and lovable.....just being picky??

1. Maybe he doesn't like it cold? |
|
I wouldn't worry about the dry ... he's better off with wet. Does it help to put a little warm water in it, or some baby food? My cats are a little off their feed now, too. I swear, it must be seasonal. I'm hearing this from a lot of kitty people right now.

3. Well, cats are supposed to eat meat. |
|
Maybe the pet food people changed what's in the can. They do seem to put a lot of stuff in it that's not meat. Good luck!

4. He does it because he's a cat. |
|
Mine occasionally decide that the food they've been eating for months is simply unacceptable, and they notify me that -- we will not eat any more of this dreck, and you must serve us something else. NOW.

5. They have to be finicky, it's their nature. I went through the same |
|
thing with the Fancy Feast Queen. She had ruled from her throne of pain in the butt and snubbing a time proven favorite food. The next week , she was eating, the once not edible food. It is their nature, just buy alternatives, so, during their fit time, you have back up.

6. Long ago my Grandmother noticed |
|
that even with the same food, same flavor sometimes the cats like one "batch" more than others. Maybe you just came across a bad (usually just a bit overcooked or underseasoned) batch.

7. is it the same brand and flavor? |
|
maybe he needs variety.
mine have been pretty good on their food. but they eat raw, and consequently get a different protein source every couple of days.

9. Yeah, some cats don't want things changed. |
|
One of our kitties wants her meals exactly the same every single time. Two of them like variety, and the fourth one doesn't care.
Glad you solved the problem! :bounce:

then go back.
Wow, just changing the bowl did that? Maybe I could get my cats to eat *less* by changing the type of paper plates I feed them on.
