This weekend we rehomed six dogs and six cats. A great weekend for the cats.
On the negative side, we now have two animals who need surgery. Toby, a three year old boxer mix, needs surgery on his knee. We also have a kitten with a severely infected eye that may need to be removed. We're working on coming up with the money through dog cookie sales and donations. It will take a lot of our funds but we're dedicated to these animals. So we'll do what we have to do.

We had great luck with a dog wash. We got a local doggie daycare to let us use their dog wash facilities, and got volunteers to do the soapy work. We got some local vendors to donate gourmet doggie treats and coupons for goodie bags. We asked $10 per dog, and $5 for nail trim. We put up flyers at nearby dog parks, and put it on every online pet bulletin board and listserv - as well as in the newsletter of the doggie day care.
We are also doing a gift wrap table at the local Barnes and Noble during the holidays- you have to call now though to get a space. Our members are donating paper, and the labor for an evening.
Good luck!!!

- you can make the iron on transfers yourself with your computer and printer. I've done this for my business.
Then ask grocery stores if you can sit outside at a table asking for dontation. Put pictures of the animals up and explain the cause. You might even find some adopters - hopefully that you can trust.
Also - if the grocery stores don't say yes, small business owner usually well. I've asked plenty of small business owners to let me shoot scenes (I'm an indie movie maker) in their places and they nearly always want to help and say yes. So don't be afraid of asking people for help. The grocery stores have the most traffic though so they are your best best.
