Who says all kittens have to be cute?
It looks like I've joined the foster pet craze; I got a two week old kitten on freecycle from a woman who was deathly allergic to cats but had been trying to raise this guy anyway (her face was horribly swollen when I came to pick him up). Her child had found him in a wood pile behind her school. A teacher told her the mom would be back for him, so she should leave him alone. The next morning the teacher checked the woodpile and the kitten was still there, and crying at the top of his lungs! So he went home with the child to her allergic mom.

The little dude doesn't really fit the "cute kitten" stereotype (looks a little like something my cats coughed up, lol)! But he's a trooper! Feisty as all heck, and really strong and LOUD for his age (yelling and purring). And man, can he drink! He'll suck down the KMR milk until he looks like a little tennis ball!

Here's a few pics. His former caretaker called him "Anjil", but I usually call him either "Goblin" or "Maximus" ('cause he's a little fighter). Any other suggestions are welcome:

Here's the little dude:

"Aaaaiiiii...the giant hand is gonna eat me"!

"Ack-it's got me"!!

"but I shall have my revenge...bawhahahaha"!

(mmm..tastes of chicken).

"and now I shall sing my song of victory"!

1. I'm sorry but all kittens ARE cute
and this one is no exception! Maybe he's just in an awkward stage?

And good luck to you taking care of him!!!

2. He's cute in the same way a fruit bat is cute
or maybe a pug. I kinda wonder if Miro looked like this at the same age? Who knows, he COULD grow out of it! ;-)

He still rates an awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. What an adorable little fellow.
Your captions do add a certain charm as well.

EDIT: Princess Turandot: Razputin also rates the "cute" category...Also an excellent method actor.

12. Awww, poor little thing!
How wonderful of you to foster it Lorien, keep us posted on progress. Was it, or is it feral? Is it a boy or a girl, can you tell yet?

16. Yeah, he's a feral (and a "he")
his mom had been spotted by a group of children while she was moving some kittens out of a woodpile behind their school, but when the kids checked the woodpile on their way home, this little guy had been left behind. Their teacher wouldn't let them touch him because she thought the mom would show up again, but he was still there in the morning. I guess mom , being a feral, just didn't have enough milk for them all. Nature can be harsh! At least there were some sharp eyed children out there!

13. He's sooooo cute!!!!!
Are you kidding? That little fella is cuter than anything. Actually when I first got Pad Thai a guy I worked with thought he was ugly. He hadn't developed his Siamese face mask yet and did look a bit like an alien. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" I guess.

14. Awwwwwww!
What a sweetie!

He just has to grow into that face is all! But he's DEFINITELY a Maximus.

On a related note, my uncle used to have this big mean Siamese named Claudius. I'd say they've got the same vibe going.

17. well hey that's what a 2 week old kitten looks like!
They ALL are bat-faces at that age. Don't ya just love the little rat tails? Eyes must have just opened, they are still blue. Will definitely get fluffier and more kittenish later.

What are you feeding him/ her? You can get substitute kitten milk from pet store and/or nutritional supplements... Since he doesn't have mom to lick him clean, you might want to rub him down periodically w/ slightly damp washcloth-- esp. good to do this after he eats which stimulates digestive process. I raised a motherless kitten once and he turned into the most lovey dovey guy you could imagine-- very people-oriented!

18. Actually, he's my forth bottle baby
I raised my beloved kitty Peewee from a two day old kitten on KMR milk, and I also raised two baby raccoons the same way (those were released into the wild after they spent time at a professional rehab center). When I saw the ad for this guy on Freecycle I figured that I may as well raise another since I have the experience and I work at home. I just put a flyer about him up at my local holistic pet food store; the people that shop there REALLY love their pets, so it seemed like the best place to start (won't adopt him out until he's weaned, of course).

23. I can't believe I missed this!
Jen becomes a foster mom and I thought it was just an ugly cat thread, lol. I've been trying to stay off the computer so I've been skimming DU, rather than reading it in depth. I didn't even notice that it was your thread Jen! Sorry :spank: . I feel like such an idiot.

Anyway, mini-Miro is definitely cute! Sorry but he is. He looks a little pathetic, but it works for him. :-) How are the others reacting to him? I imagine Puck might be a little jealous at not being the baby anymore.

Good luck with him. He's a lucky guy to have found his way to you.
