Walter Reed O-6 tapped for 2-star promotion

Col. Patricia Horoho, a registered nurse and commander of the Walter Reed Health Care System, has been tapped for promotion to major general and appointment as chief of the Army Nurse Corps.

The announcement was made Tuesday by the office of the Army chief of staff and represents a rare two-rank promotion.

Also announced Tuesday was the appointment of Col. Timothy Adams as chief of the Army Veterinary Corps and his promotion to brigadier general.

Adams is currently commanding the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

Both appointments are statutory positions and require Senate confirmation. Horoho and Adams were identified for the positions by a board that met in November to advise the secretary of the Army on officers suitable to command the nurse and veterinary corps.
