1. What jerks - but I think this is likely more because he
defeated Dean than anything else. Have they supported many other campaigns against Senators with decent records? The nastiness here is that they clearly did it more against Kerry.

I hope he can't get the signatures or the 15%.

It is telling that they appear to have supported Edwards.

I have no issues with primary. In fact, with a decent opponent, it may push Kerry to make clear some of his positions. However, as far as I can see, with O'Reilly, there is little to clarify except for O'Reilly's rants. However, the local Democratic chair did seem to think that it would go to the primary, which would be a shame.

I am still trying to figure out what he meant by that.

O’Reilly said he has donated to Kerry’s campaign in the past, but that he chose back in 2002 to run against the former presidential candidate once he saw that Kerry had supported the military going into Iraq.

“It’s not right. I’ve been a trial lawyer for 25 years. I’ve been in more than 60 courts and over 1,000 trials. I fight day in and day out,” said O’Reilly, who is an at-large city councilor in Gloucester.

Andrew O’Brien, Kerry’s state director, said the four-term incumbent is making no effort to block the politically unknown and financially outmatched O’Reilly from the ballot.

We’ve been focusing on our job and Senate business, that’s priority No. 1,’’ O’Brien said.

O’Brien said he did not know if Kerry and O’Reilly will face off in debates before the September primary.

State Democratic Party Chairman John Walsh said it’s unlikely that convention delegates would keep Kerry’s challenger off the primary ballot.

Blocking someone from getting 15 percent is a significantly aggressive goal,’’ said Walsh, an Abington resident. It’s very, very hard in a two-person race to get 86 percent.’

3. it is too bad that they do not recognize a true progressive when they see them.
O'Reilly is a pathetic candidate.
