8. Yeah it all depends on when I arrive at work
Edited on Mon Apr-18-05 12:06 AM by JohnKleeb
If I arrive at 1:50 I can make it probably, at 2 probably not. I have to ask my office too, and I am gonna do that on my way to work.

I would guess after you've seen them a few times, eh.

The ocean is always nice to look at, so I can at least enjoy that if I get behind a real slowpoke.

There's been some idiocy of late, but nothing out of the ordinary that I'm aware of... except that ONE thread, but anyway.

22. the usual, I guess
I've been feeling really pessimistic lately, what with the Bolton nomination (I've been watching some of the hearings), and talk of the nuclear option on the filibuster. And fully coming to believe the election was stolen.

I go over to the GD forums and it's the same old same old - just constant trashing of Democrats or "liberal bourgeoisie" (whatever that is) or the usual juvenile leftist crap (except it's grownups spouting it) and I get mighty discouraged.

Today I defended two politicians I don't like - in fact, really can't stand one of them - Lieberman and Biden. I just felt the attacks on them weren't justified. I mean - disagreeing on an issue or a vote is one thing, but to just make generalized smears for no other reason than to smear... it's like I went to sleep and woke up at FreeRepublic or something.

The nation is standing at the edge of the cliff of fascism and we're arguing about what color shoes to wear...

23. What happened exactly? Yeah I dont like Biden and Lieberman too
much myself but they are generalized. YEah, the trashing of the dems is pretty crap, and youre right, most of them are older, older than my parents in some cases.

26. well, there's this thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1730064

it's not much, really, but why start a thread that's just an all out hate thread for no reason? I mean - at least he voted against the bankruptcy bill - when one of these DINOS does the right thing we should should be glad.

And Biden has got some real hate coming at him on this board - some of it justified - but I thought he kicked ass at the Bolton hearings, and he's getting ripped by some for throwing in a compliment along with the ass kicking. He's just being a gentleman. Honest to God, it seems like some people here would only be satisfied if our politicians began to physically attack each other.

27. you know, I just spent a month outside of the country
and watching the whole Terry Schiavo thing from over there - it was like - yes - that whole damned country is nuts.

btw - I thought you did a good job on that "bourgousie" thread, even though, in the end, it's kind of a waste of time arguing with those types. Always talking about the "working class". They wouldn't know the working class if it came up behind them and kicked them in the ass.

28. You were in Thailand
right? How'd that go? And what did people over there say about our fundie frenzy?

I think we definitely have some trade and corporate problems. But I've just been thinking about it lately, when I see a DU poll where most people drive SUV's or somebody's new this or that, who the fuck are these people to blast away at somebody making money from capitalism when they are too? And wouldn't want it any other way I don't think.

29. I only talked politics with two Thais, really
and the extent of it was that all the Americans they had talked to voted for Kerry...

I only talked with one European (Swedish) about politics - I tried to get across how divided the country is - that at least half of the country loathes Bush. He just couldn't understand how we could have elected the idiot.

There was a fascinating editorial in the Bangkok Post (major English language newspaper) while we were there. I guess Thailand is considering going with an electronic voting system - the article cited specific problems in our recent elections and quoted the John Hopkins study that concluded the systems aren't secure. It was very comprehensive. It basically said that our election results couldn't be trusted and advised Thailand to reject electronic voting.

Sanity!

Then I'd turn on the tv and watch some right wing bobbleheads babble about Schiavo and I would need to drink heavily for awhile.

11. oh big raspberry to all of you
Nothing ever happens where I live, never ever ever. It was the same during the primaries. I had to sit and listen to everybody's stories for months and months and months. By the time I got to see Kerry, nobody cared anymore. It's going to be the same thing, by the time he gets to Portland, it'll be old news.

I need to find me a big old pity pot. :nopity:
