Everyone in MA just refers to the Senior Senator as Ted or Teddy or Teddy K. Uncle Ted, same thing. (We actually tease him a lot, but in that way that you tease family.)
What's really been interesting is that Massholes (besides me) are starting to use the same affection words for Kerry. (I saw this at Faneuil Hall.) If Kerry keeps bashing the Rethug bastards as hard as he has been doing this week, well, the love will be forthcoming from everyone in the home state. I can't wait to see what the reception will be like when Kerry is introduced at the State Dem Convention in May. It should be the sound of 6,600 people going absolutely nuts.

I'm like you "Uncle" just doesn't work at all! I have heard people from there refer to him as Big John. But like you I want Tay Tay to tell us some of the nicknames LOL.

Good talking to you again. I will be around more. I was busy setting up my website so didn't have much time for anything else there for a while. When you get time check it out. It's nothing fancy but hey it will work and serve the purpose. http://www.bulletinboards.com/kerrycrats/

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Me and Glenn have worked for a while now getting it set up. We tried our best to make it as inviting for all the Kerrycrats as possible. I did the graphics and pictures can't you tell LOL. Now that it is all set up I will be back and forth. Feel free to give me ideas for the place. Again thanks.

Love the site. I spread the word, but do you think you could make the words in dark red or a darker color? Some said it was hard to read but the pics are really good. :hi:

You can look at it now and see if that works better. The Log In page is still the same but the message board is different. I think people will have no problems reading it now. Again thanks.

Glad you signed up and I hope you visit often. We wanted to have another Kerry website for everyone to visit and enjoy. There are several out there now. But if you ask me you can never have too many. I think everyone will enjoy the work Glenn does as well. He is a good writer and like many of us commical as hell when he gets pissed and rants.

but the original is at least twice that size. It's my favorite picture of him - full length, and as TayTay said, rolled up sleeves and ever-present cell phone. From the Rolling Stone endorsement issue from last fall. :loveya:

I meant the affection, not the names. Teddy is a kidder and a different guy altogether. I can see calling him 'Uncle Ted.' (Plus that is a nod of the head to the fact that Teddy became the de facto father figure to many children upon the deaths of his brothers.)
I have mostly heard the more formal John Kerry referred to as John Kerry. I have read articles wherein people who actually know Kerry have called him 'Johnny' but I don't actually know him so I would never use this. I don't think Kerry is formal and whatnot all the time at all, but still, there is just something there that doesn't invite nicknames at all.
The affection is now there and more public. That's why the Boston Globe said Kerry was mobbed with fans and well-wishers when he appeared in public at the Marathon. That's different and quite nice to see.

27. I attended an event where his godson spoke |
|
He's the son of a Yale roommate, now lives in Chicago. Anyway, he was making a case for what a nice guy JK is (as if members of our campaign team needed convincing-lol) and he said he always called him "Uncle Johnny". (that's an appropriate use of "uncle", right, whome?) And he said what you said, that in the family they call him Johnny.
His story connected with that was that his daughter, aged about six, sent JK one of her two special birthday coins (silver or gold or something) to use in his campaign, and some weeks later, busy as he was in early 2004, he sent her a hand-written thank-you note, something he didn't really need to do.
