Poll question: Help me pick my "Celebrating" contest entry...
Edited on Tue Nov-25-08 02:35 AM by regnaD kciN
It's been a while since I've put up one of these, but this month's subject is tricky for a (predominantly) nature photographer. Besides, one of these has already been in last year's DU calendar (according to current contest rules, calendar contest entries are not barred from the monthly contest), and I'm not sure how it measures up with the others.

As in my earler polls, please remember the...

DISCLAIMER (a.k.a. "the F.Gordon clause" ;-) ): This poll is advisory. I reserve the right to choose a photo other than the eventual poll winner, or even a photo not included in this poll, as my entry. All rights reserved. Void where prohibited. Employees of DU or its subsidiaries are ineligible, except for voting purposes. In the event of a tie, duplicate non-prizes will be awarded. This poll is open to legal world residents only. Close cover before striking.

Time of the Season

The Storm Has Passed...

Fireworks I

Fireworks II ("The Fourth...in BLUE")

Fireworks III

As usual, comments are welcome.

1. That is really tough
I won't vote in the poll because I can't decide between the first and the last picture. Both capture me.

2. As much as I love the blue fireworks...
the last shot is so spectacular. Was that the calender shot? It deserves to be.

5. No, actually...
...the calendar shot was the one with the blue fireworks. It was the July (of course) image in last year's calendar.

6. Blue fireworks, like blue Christmas lights...
always seem other-worldly to me.

3. Fireworks III is a textbook example of how to shoot fireworks:
great foreground interest; decisive moment; perfect choice of shutter speed - long enough to fill the sky, not so long that the bursts disperse. I know all these rules, but just once, I wish I could take credit for a shot like yours.

4. I bow to the Wisdom of The People...
;-)

However, if you compare the version in the contest thread to the one above, you'll notice I did a little more tweaking -- straightened the image (which was tilted slightly to the left) and cropped out the blank space on the right. The straightening also allowed me to expand the image on the left a bit to include more of the burst.

Thanks for your resounding opinion!

8. Well, I already made my submission...
...so I guess I'll go with the fireworks. BTW, your entry is really nice! :applause:
