Need help from a health-nut DUer.
I'm posting this in General Discussion because nobody posts in the Lounge anymore and I need to place an order pronto.

Okay, here's the thing: My niece is in need of a get well basket. She had something called ITP Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura. It's treatable and she's fine, but I would like to send her a health basket because obviously, candy will not do. I don't mind a few chocolate dipped delicaccies, but there should really be Mojo bars in the basket, if you know what I mean.

I'd put something together myself, but I don't really live in a California, best-nuts in the nation kind of place.

I tried Incredible Edibles, but they don't deliver to the Miami area. Any other ideas?

5. I had a bad thing happen with them.
It was a LONG time ago, but I'll never forget. We got a gift basket that had been sent by one of our friends. It was pretty nice and we enjoyed it. A few months later, we got a letter from H&D saying that our friends never paid the bill and would we mind paying it? I was so appalled! I've never done business with them because of that. We didn't tell our friends because we didn't want to embarrass them. But there HAD to be a mistake, because these are people who always pay their bills on time. Hopefully, they've changed their collection policy. I think they should have worked it out with their customer and left us out of it.

13. That seems odd, unless they had a H and D credit card
We use them every now and again, and they always want the dough up front. Good stuff, pricey, but they do a good job...could it have been a scam, or a phish?

14. It was a long time ago,
like in 1989 or so. It was a letter on H&D letterhead (not email), listed the name, address, and phone number of our friends and they knew our name, address, and phone number. There was nothing to suggest a scam. We probably called them, but I don't remember. If we did call, we told them we weren't paying. I would have probably kept the letter if it hadn't made me so mad. The only thing I can think is that perhaps our friends' check bounced, but even that sounds far-fetched.

17. Sorry about your experience.. I love Harry & David.
They actually create items in America, and employ actual local workers for customer service, etc. They also own Jackson & Perkins. That incident was long ago, they were quite a small biz back then.. sounds like one employees bad judgement on that. Hope you'll try them again, I find them to be a nice company.

26. I checked them all and Harry and David won the toss.

They were all great, but H & D had the best combination of healthy food and yummies. Except, their order on-line form is extremely confusing. Absolutely didn't like that "Recepient total" designation. Sounds like I was charging the person who was receiving my basket.

We have had their fruit and it has always been very good! They are primarily citrus products, that they grow.
