Four Dead in South Baghdad...
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 09:45 PM by Tom Yossarian Joad
Tin soldiers and W's coming
Look's likes we've been had
This springtime I hear the drumming
Four dead in South Baghdad

/ Dm - F C / :

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning them down
Should have been done long ago
What if you knew the child and
Found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know

/ Gm7 - / C - / Gm7 - C - / :

Ah, la la la la...

Gotta get down to it
Freedoms are leaving us now
Looks like they've been had
What if you knew them and
Found them dead on the ground
How can you run when you know

Tin soldiers and W's coming
We're finally on our own
This springtime I hear the drumming
Four dead in a lost Baghdad
Four dead in an unneeded war.
{Repeat last line}

We lost four more of our children today to an IED. Keep them and their families in your hearts.

Peace.

1. Seems like yesterday, doesn't it?
I fear that we will see a repeat of Kent State, probably in the not-too-distant future.

2. I've been expecting it.
Cindy in Crawford frightened me.

3. You are not alone...I was hoping against hope that none of the ...
local morons would start something. We really lost our innocence with Kent State and with violence having become normative since then, anything could happen, without warning.

4. Instead of "We're finally on our own"
How about "Looks like we've all been had" to keep the beat but rhyme with Baghdad, and thereby keep the rhyme scheme of the original. Or, maybe better, "Looks like they've all been had."

6. For each of our dead, Iraqis lose about one hundred.
We brought war to them. They did NOTHING to us. Nothing. Nothing.

Nothing.

We deliver destruction, division, oppression, desperation, death.

We MAKE them HATE us. WE MAKE THEM HATE US.
