December 1, 1930 - Mary Harris "Mother" Jones died at the age of 100. The veteran of marches with coal miners and child laborers, she was the conscience of the nation.

Ten thousand pickets jam the sidewalk in front a Boston Store in Milwaukee in support of retail workers striking for union recognition. The workers returned in mid-January with a small pay raise but no recognition - 1934
