I am so thankful for my SIL's union rep and higher ups that came to their rescue when they were told their new baby wouldn't be covered on their insurance because they were 4 days late adding her.
They thought it was automatic and were told by the pediatrician's office the baby would be coverered under Mom for 31 days then get her own card.
It wasn't until they went to pick up a prescription for the baby that they found out she wasn't covered.
I told my daughter to have my SIL contact his union to see if they could help and yesterday he got a call saying "you don't want to know what we went through, but she will be covered!"
Lesson learned: check your coverage and read everything if you are having a child. They were told they would have to wait for open enrollment in November and the coverage would start in January 2011.
So THANK YOU from the bottom of this grandmother's heart IBEW 47! And there will be a big basket of goodies coming your way!!
