I think he was trying to show that he was doing this by himself, no big production, just another citizen voicing his opinion. (And yes, it was funny too!)

6. Tom Hanks is the successor to James Stewart |
|
as perhaps the most beloved actor/voice in this nation right now. This is important, no matter what talking heads say about celebrities having no influence on politics. You can see Tom Hanks has his vital juices flowing, he's authentically anchored in his power and exudes genuine authority, not fake authoritarian condescension like so many politicians do. And this is what Clinton supporters don't seem to get: most people are still in touch with some remnants of their guts, so they can instinctively tell the phonies with their polished smiley masks from the real genuine human beings.

right now to cheer myself up. Boy, do we all need it after these eight dark ages! The clean-up will be an epic undertaking. Thankfully, we've got our mojo workin', there's a reason this is called a grass ROOTS movement. Those roots, that's where the power lies to move paradigms from their foundations.
Can you imagine the Obama family actually living in the White House? The MESSAGE that sends to the world?

Jimmy or Tom? Jimmy wasn't that great http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Jimmy_Stewart.phpYes, I have a new criteria. He did make Vertigo, though, but the actors were little more than wall paper in Hitchcock's films.

Tom Hanks.
As far as past actors Humphrey Bogart and Spencer Tracy.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if J Stewart may have been a racist. I watched a interview of him in a documentary about the director John Ford ,who also was extremely antisemitic, and in that interview he referred to a African American as a Negro boy.

I don't watch Fox very much since it is violent and news can't be trusted. MySpace never. It is full of propaganda. There are actors who i like in movies but question their politics. I don't seriously take their advice or endorsement on anything.

What was nice about his video is that he wrote it and shot it by himself. He was putting his two cents in like any other citizen. There was no crowd and no cameras, other than his own. Very refreshing.

Tom H. is a very influential man in the entertainment industry - which is also very big business around the world. Steven Spielberg and a handful of others are established forces in that stratosphere. These guys are among the global opinion-makers and world-view shapers of our time.
You'll see this when you travel through Asia and the Middle East. Tom Hanks is the current archetype of the "good American". Sure, John Wayne is very hard to beat down from his everlastin' high horse, but BushCo may have just done the job and actually flogged that American Cowboy idol to death.
Let's just say hope springs in many a heart :-)

Tom Hanks is my archetype of the "good American," too, and I hope his endorsement makes headlines around the world.

IMO, I think people are now turned off by Hollywood endorsements. The more from Hollywood, the further the downfall. They look at this as either "another rich person", or the "I am a celebrity, do as I say."

31. And I approved THIS message: |
|
I want a president who is honest and has good judgement.
I want someone who knows how to relate to others, including other nations, without using power tactics.
I want someone who displays integrity and wisdom.
I want someone who can inspire and motivate reasonable people.
Like Mr. Hanks, I want someone who bases policy on truth.
I want someone who is as different from George W. as possible.
I want someone like Barack Obama.
Hey, Mr. Obama is about to be come the nominee for president.
FABULOUS!
The simple act of electing Barack Obama to be our president will improve our standing in the world enormously. It will show that we are not the kind of people who approve of leaders like Bush, Cheney, McCain, Clinton (H), Lieberman, etc. even though many of us may have been a little slow at reaching this position. Fear makes people dumb. Let us rediscover out courage.

...another career suicide. I will not watch this jerk-off's movies again.
I will not watch Oprah again.....
My point is....a celebrity should just stay out of the political arena. Why, you risk the chance of alienating many individuals who had normally supported persons of high celebrity. I mean they could be ruined.
Myself, I liked Edwards and I just do not know who to vote for to this day....I just might not vote at all.
I'm so confused....I wished Edwards could still play a part in all this!!!
Sorry for rambling all over the place!!

you really think its that big of a deal that its punishable by boycotting his work? lol.
sounds like its people like you who make it a big deal and thus try to turn it into career suicide.
he can say what he wants, in any form he wants.
i wish edwards was in it still too, he was definitely the best of the last three.
i do favor obama now over clinton, but to be honest when i saw this video post i coulda cared less... it means nothing to me really, but like i say thats the beauty of the internet and he can say what he wants. lots of other people do it too, they just havent been in movies.
but hey, youre free to do what you want as well! if you dont want to vote, whatever floats ur boat ;)

|
Functionally, he says he wants Obama to be the president because he is a black guy. Later, he says he wants Obama because of his character. Would not his character be first if that was the #1 reason? People are pretty easy to read sometimes, you just have to keep an open mind, listen to their words.
