Okay, while we didn't cover the Isle of Lesbos in school (this was the 60s, okay?), I always thought the Isle of Lesbos was pronounced: Lesboz, not Lesboss. Maybe its a regional dialect thing....

5. Well, the word 'lesbian' as in: 'a woman who loves other women', stems from Lesbos.

Maddow mentions Sappho, a feminine character from Greek mythology who was in love with women, and lived on... Lesbos. That's where the word originates from.
