7. I guess my question is: why? |
|
What would be so bad about letting Obama have the nomination? What would be the downside of that, seeing as how most sane contenders in the past have bowed out gracefully when it is clear they couldn't win the nomination.
Would it really be so bad to unite behind Obama now (if, as everyone claims, that is what she is going to do later). Why waste all of the Democratic contributor money fighting each other? What is there to gain by this, if not to actually win the nomination?

My guess is that Hillary will stay in through the rest of the primaries, but tone down the negativity, and when the time comes she'll concede graciously and work her butt off to support Barack. I think all the doom and gloom about the divisiveness and damage done to the Democratic party through the long primary season is way overstated. These candidates are not all that different on the issues -- where they're different is in personality and style. When all is said and done, we will be unified and a force to be reckoned with.

8. Make no mistake. Damage has been done to the Democratic Party by this long primary... |
|
... and all you need as the proof in the pudding, is see how insanely high McInsane's approval numbers are in the polls.
This after nearly 12 years Repub controlled Congress, an illegal war with McInsane's promise to keep the status quo and to add Iran to the bloody mix, the economy tanking, foreclosures exploding all across the country, jobs vanishing and Katrina damage still not resolved - just to name a few.
McSame's approval numbers in the polls is the barometer I use to gauge how much damage has been done to our Party because of the Clintons' "scorched earth" campaigning against Obama.
And it don't look good.

but once the nominee is decided, I feel more than positive that everyone will pull together and get the job done. Do you honestly believe that either Hillary supporters (the "real" ones, not the Limbaugh factor) or Obama supporters would flock to McCain if their nominee isn't the candidate? I seriously doubt it. True, Obama and Clinton have been concentrating on each other more than McCain over the past couple of months, but there are positives from that, in that all the dirty laundry has been aired ad nauseam, there should be no "surprises" that the Republicans can pull out of their hats at the last minute to shake things up. McCain's been able to coast somewhat, but there's plenty of time to make the distinctions between our nominee and him, and I don't think it's going to look good for him at all, no matter who the Democrats run.

to be heard and cast their vote for their choice. We're always the ones carrying on about every vote counting and whatnot. Let's give these last few states the chance to weigh in. It really doesn't hurt anything.
Maybe I can be more objective about this since all my faves were gone a long time ago. I understand you guys are impatient, but it's only a couple more weeks. Just let it play out. It will all be fine in the end.

I just don't understand why Obama, who has beaten everyone else throughly, has to jump over a higher hurdle than any other candidate has ever had to, as far as length of primary process.

...this senseless continuation of campaigning is over.
I seriously doubt it too that any real Democrat would vote for McCain. The Republicans that have voted for both Obama and Clinton (the majority are in the Clinton group since they also show to be the largest in numbers to go over to McCain - according to the polls, that is) are the only ones that would vote for McCain come November.

12. The ideal, for certain, |
|
but the problem is will she do that? The fact that it is a question is very worrisome. We must see some results of that hope soon. If not here is what will happen. Splits and tearing at her ranks of delegates over this no win scorched party certainty carrying over into the Convention where it will collide with the Obama, ready to celebrate and move on faction. Either a focused and determined attempt to run the Convention her way or her huge bloc in wide disarray and emotionally torn. The MSM running Hillary as their weapon of choice if not their candidate of choice.
She has to make a difficult transition for herself and her supporters, no easy task. Either good will and hope must be universally offered and/or the strong resolution of this problem by the Obama campaign, which would be even more difficult to accomplish by pressure and demands or compromises.

19. What is different today? |
|
Has Hillary stopped trying to strong-arm superdelegates?
Has she stopped running attack ads?
Is she not on the warpath again in West Virginia?
Has she made any concrete moves that demonstrate a desire for reconciliation?
If she has, I missed it.
We can all agree that reconciliation is the best course for her, but that doesn't make it so.
Rachael nailed this big time.

Well Rachel you were right again. Hillary just cant see the writing on the wall. Im starting to believe she might want to damage Obama in the general now. I never really thought this before but why else would Hillary keep this up other then to make sure Obama loses and she can run in 4 years.

We're not talking about a rational, reasonable politician who understands there is a time for attack and a time for retreat. We're talking about Hillary "Scorched Earth" Clinton.
The dumbest thing is that even I was agreeing with KO.
Sorry Rachael. I will never doubt you again.

She's said that a bunch of times. Maybe she's trying to force the superdelegates to make a move.

29. Rachel is the best pundit at standing up against Republicans |
|
and their baseless attacks on Democrats and their views on TV shows. That's why most people love Rachel Maddow. She never backs down from a fight and if you try to get a cheap shot in against Democrats, she'll get an even CHEAPER shot in against Republicans. I remember one time Joe Scarborough was pastorbating nonstop and Rachel was able to get in the fact that McCain's Florida campaign co-chair had been arrested for some 'questionable' bathroom activities. Pissed Joe off and he walked off the set. That's why people love Rachel, because she goes straight at the Republican attacks like a Hildog on steroids.

33. Ridiculous. This is not TV's Survivor for pete's sake. |

To state that Hillary Clinton is out to destroy the Democratic party is utter nonsense. The very fact that you suppose she is "getting back" at Clinton for his cheating is stupid. Why would this hurt Bill Clinton? She is not a petty woman what would destroy herself to "get back" at her husband. The very fact that she is willing to place herself in a position to draw nasty criticism from her distracters such as you proves that she is dedicated to her political goals working in the party that represents her values. I am glad that the rest of Democratic voters in the remaining states get to express themselves during this democratic process.
