4. ... stop for a moment to think what this election would be like ... |
|
... if that other guy (can't even remember his name) would have been named DNC chair - the one that Teresa Heinz Kerry's son was so high over ... this would have been another weak election cycle for Dems. Sigh.
THANK YOU DR DEAN for helping us take back our country!!!! :patriot: :applause: :patriot:

7. What makes you "right" is how well you support conventional wisdom.. |
|
not being actually, uh, CORRECT in what you observe and predict. I mean, how you gonna sit around in one of those press pundit circle jerks and chuckle with the rest of them unless you support Conventional Wisdom?
People who are actually right make the Washington establishment uncomfortable.

14. People tend to forget how much he's worked behind the scenes. |
|
That's his job, not to hit the talk shows, but to coordinate the party for victory. Apparently, he's done a fine job.

21. I love Dean and his strategy but on Air America Radio he claimed |
|
we should not pull out of Iraq or "al qaeda will take over the country" (what, all 80 of them)He also claimed that impeachment was a bad idea and most Americans didn't want Bush impeached (how insightful) and that congress should continue to fund the war without conditions. Even Rachel Maddow was shocked and could barely speak to Dean's responses she was so surprised by them. I'm sure that interview is in the AAR archives or in Maddow's archives. After that interview I understood that a man can have brilliant moments and then have some of the most ignorant ideas. So many lives could have been saved if Pelosi had just begun impeachment hearings worrying more about the constitution than about the press.
But the 50 state strategy was an excellent proposal and Dean works very hard to ensure democratic victories. Gotta love him.

22. I'll never forget Begala saying Dean was wrong to give money to Utah so ppl could stand around |
|
and pick our noses.
Here's the deal: Utah sent more volunteers to a neighboring state to work for Obama this year than any other state.
True story.
Hundreds went to Colorado and Nevada every weekend for the last 2 months.
Not much, but better than nothing and it let us feel we had a stake in the election and our country again.
(Biggest group of voluteers? The Democratic Club at BYU, the Mormon University. Go figure.)

24. So true! They sent money to KS too. And sure, we won't go Blue for the President. |
|
But we have a 2 term Dem Govenor. We are electing more people to the House and Senate at the state level. We have a huge grassroots effort to take back county politics. Half our Congressional delegation are Dems. The DNC needs to help build the party at every level not just teh Presidential level and Dean understands that.

26. From the linked article: |
|
"Dean, who wears an ill-fitting suit I’m pretty sure I’ve seen at Target, also wears a smart smirk, the look of a guy who knows more than he lets on, and more than anyone gives him credit for."
Howard has already brought us REAL choice.
An Obama victory will be complete vindication for him.
I will support DFA and the DNC as long as I know the good doctor is in the house.
The reason that the DLC types keep calling progressive democrats losers and "loony", is that we AREN'T MAKING ANY MONEY at the "game" of politics.
We don't happen to view it as a game, OR an opportunity for personal advancement. We are in it strictly for the good of the country....
and THAT is unforgivable to them.

|
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 12:10 PM by RubyDuby in GA
after two of the greatest men in my lifetime, Jimmy Carter and Howard Dean.
Besides, we owe him. My husband and I met working on Dean's campaign. We will forever be grateful to him. It was the very least we could do to name our first born after him. :)

Yeah, Howard Dean is the flagship of the Democratic National Party now. At least some of these guys have the strength and moral character to stand up for what they believe in! Anyway, check out this movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1exiyBYnJ00

30. Sorry, but Howard Dean has little to do with anything. A Democrat was going to win this year, no |

matter what, thanks to the inept leadership of the Republicans. It's fairly simple.

We never would have won Indiana, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Ohio without the fifty-state strategy.

44. Dave, I'm sorry to say that your post validates the fact that you're from another |
|
country. ;) Dean made Democrats competitive in 50 States. We "might" have won otherwise, but not in a landslide by any means. In fact, Republicans might have been able to purge enough voters in Florida to keep us from taking the White House.

31. Dean's push for a 50 state strategy in 2006 is what gave the Dems the balls to do it again in 2008! |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 04:43 PM by GreenTea
Many Dems including the fucking DLC went nuts when Howard Dean insisted on a fifty state strategy in 2006...The DLC wanted to fund just their Dem candidates and only Dem candidates in blue state that had a good chance of winning....
The DLC was hoping Dean would fail, and James Carville would take over at the DNC - assuring that Clinton people would control both the DLC & the DNC.
Well, Dean was correct the Dems won their races in blue states as well as in usually solid republican districts, and the Dems indeed took back the congress.
Still, Carville went on for month's trashing Howard Dean every chance he got....Fuck you James Carville and fuck you Rahm Emanuel & the corporate bought & controlled DLC!
Dean has raised record amounts of money for the DNC which now benefits ALL democrats running congressional & senate races in ALL 50 states!
And we'll see Dems winning again in even more traditionally republican strong holds tonight!
Cheers to Howard Dean a great Democratic leader and head of the DNC!!
