Sarah Palin's Creepy SNL Apperance |
|
Gov. Palin was on the SNL Presidential Bash, and she couldn't have been any creepier. http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/

DEATH worshipers....it just doesn't work that way. She should be lead back to Alaska and kept there. I used to think I wanted to go there, but not anymore.

3. I'm about to stick up for Sarah Palin... gulp... |
|
Lawrence O'Donnell said that her bit was taped without an audience (he was there at the time), she was reading for the first time from cue cards, and that was her first take. He said that he admired her talent, or something kind like that.
I think she was punked (yet again) if she was told that a laugh track would be added later; there were some laughs, but they must have been added by someone who evidently didn't much care for her, because you could barely hear them.
It does seem pretty unfair to hold her piece, without an audience, up against skits that did have a live audience laughing.
And now I will go wash my hands after having typed something in defense of Sarah Palin. Bleh.

4. That took guts, renate, to stick up for Palin like that. |
|
I salute you for your gumption, I really do. In spite the new info you furnished, I still think she stunk. Yuck, scary woman.

I just didn't want to be freepery, criticizing despite the facts.
Along these lines, one of my kids' friends was over tonight and asked me whether I'm voting for Obama because I hate McCain or because I love Obama. (Can you guess?... his family votes for McCain.) I really don't like talking politics with kids, because that's something I want to leave to their parents, so I tried to be vague, although he knows how our family votes. Thinking about McCain's treatment of Carol, I said, Well, most people have made mistakes in their personal lives they wouldn't be proud of, but didn't give specifics, and then my daughter piped up and said something I had told her about how McCain had had a chance to leave prison in Vietnam because of his father's position and didn't take it. The kid was actually confused because wha....? you mean people can say something nice about their opponent? But I had made sure, when talking about McCain to my children, to give him the credit he was due. For one thing, it makes any subsequent criticism even more valid, :D, but it's just the decent thing to do.
It seems to be working because my kids are fantastic Democrats and huge Obama supporters and very nice people. :)

It wasn't her delivery, it was the material. Just not funny enough. The McCain bits - especially the QVC skit on Saturday were just better written. Remember, she's been to TV school!!

I saw the same interview after I had posed the video, so thanks for pointing out this new information. It sounds like the SNL folks screwed this up a bit--but I still can't stand Palin.

14. She's like that teacher you had in high school... |
|
you know the one.
You knew more about the subject than she did, but when you added to the information she presented, she got all snarky and shot you down. And when she was in a "good" mood, she would try to joke around, but it was always weird and awkward and almost nobody would laugh at her attempted jokes.
She can't look wrong or foolish. What makes people funny is that they don't care how foolish they look because we are all in on the "it's a joke" thing. They know that we know they aren't really foolish.
She can't get there....
