1. NOw, why didn't that tarp money go directly to BUY these empty houses, then |
|
rent them to people who need them ..... it would not be being used for million dollar jets then.

2. Eventually this will be the solution. |
|
When things get as bad as it can be, the people will rise up and see that there are lots of empty houses and lots of poor people freezing outside. That's where the rubber meets the road. To hell with the banks. There are not enough cops to stop desperate people from occupying vacant houses. When the economy rebounds, and these people can find work, they can then be approached and offered an opportunity to pay rent.

of the rich will end.And people will see beyond class and realize we need each other, and what we don't need a class of pampered billionaire parasites stamping their childish feet demanding suffering people to sleep outside empty houses and die

4. Evidently, there are rules which preclude counties, towns from building |
|
permanent housing for homeless --- but they can rent highly expensive hotel space for
them!! Temporarily . . . !!!
This is insane --
Good idea here re these properties -- though I think first effort should be to keep
the homeowner off the street and in their houses!
Where they are already empty -- I think better for everyone if occupied!

5. My only fear is of those most in need winding up with criminal charges. |

I agree it is insane not to house these families in these empty properties. A shelter is no place for children. I also agree not nearly enough is being done to keep these people in their homes in the first place, and that has to change.
That being said I don't have a badge and a gun. Something tells me the police are going to be really interested in this after seeing this piece.
It will be interesting to see who they are protecting and serving. I can even see kids being taken from their parents as they are hauled off the jail. Would this be a felony? Will the kids enter the system? Let's hope prosecutors aren't going to pursue the inevitable charges if they are caught.
I hope like hell I am wrong. I really do.

6. That's the way to do it. They can't arrest everybody. Just seize the damn things! |
