Any intelligent government, would have done this almost immediately. The fact that this mess is out of hand is due to the servile & criminal relationships that have existed(s) between the US Government and large corporations. It's the only explanation. When you see our imbecilic, Senators ( Landrieu, etc ) continuing to mitigate this disaster it doesn't take a genius to know who is paying their bills. These clowns have got to go. At least this spill has flush out our corrupt system into the open.

and cost benefit analysis. It's cheaper to let the gulf coast die than it is to try and save it. Once it's dead there won't be any reason to restrict deep water drilling. The oil industry isn't vested in shrimp fishing, environmental protection or tourism.
