1. Like always Fareed hit the nail right on the head! |
|
I remember when the Green Protest was going strong after the suspect election and there were folks here on DU criticizing Obama for not getting involved! Like the Republicans they could not grasp the simple fact that doing little to nothing was the best & smartest move!
To be fair I do not think those here on DU were wanting Obama to start dropping bombs...I do not think they really knew what they wanted other than Obama to get more involved! Sounds familiar!!

2. What it seems many did not understand about the Green movement |
|
Was that it was not being held in protest of the government; these people weren't trying to topple the ayatollahs or institute American-style democracy or end the theocracy. They were protests over the election results; they did not want Ahmedinijad, and that's about as far as it goes. Hell, the entire point of using the green is to support the notion of religious rule. They just wanted a president who they thought would be better at doing that.
I suppose this is equal parts wishful thinking - people wanting to see Iran's "regime" toppled, and attributing that to the protesters as well - and deep, uninformed confusion - people also seem to think that the president of Iran is the head of the Iranian government.

This is the best evidence that Republicans are absolutely insane, and probably should be committed to asylums
There is so much in Zakaria's insight, and Zakaria obviously knows more than McCain about all this.
I hope McCain loses his next election. Slight chance of that, but maybe he could just retire due to poor health, (mental health is already very sick, physical health, maybe he can just resign because he's old and can't remember anymore.)

4. John, we ALREADY have many civil rights struggles.... |
|
Some important ones in your own state, and where the fuck are you when people need help defending their rights?
Fucking nowhere, so don't be so insulting as to expect us to believe that you suddenly care so deeply about the civil rights of the Iranian people!
I've never seen someone sell their soul so blatanly and shamelessly as John McCain. He's no hero. Heroes have the courage of their convictions.

5. McCain is just another tool now |
|
What an idiot fucktard. Only worried about how "his legacy" is remembered. So sad.

6. The man should have retired 20 years ago. |

John McCain is demented. That's the only explanation for his thinking. The U.S. government, though, is curiously vindictive toward Iran. I'm convinced that they will, one day, wage a war of revenge against the Iranian regime for the hostage crisis of 1980. They're that small-minded about the loss of face in that part of the world.
