1. Hey, question for you rjones... |
|
Where's this Obama statement on last night's exclusion of Kucinich from the debate?
Kucinich appeared on Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman today to show what the debate should have looked like. He got to respond and say everything he would have said had he been included. But at the end, Amy asked about the other candidates and what role they played in keeping him out of the debate.
Great question.
Kucinich unfortunately DEFENDED Obama and said he issued a statement and really insinuated that only Clinton and Edwards should be pointed at and blamed for being complicit in last night's rigged event.
By the way, this fails to mention that Richardson was invited until he dropped out of the race. Had he still been running, he would have been on stage with or without Kucinich.
Why he dropped out before he got to see what states on the West Coast would do and whether or not he could get into double-digit polling numbers is beyond me. But, thanks Bill. You unintentionally aided NBC's rigging of the debate last night.

IIRC, the Nevada debate was supposed to be the top four candidates in the polls. When Richardson dropped out, MSNBC sent Kucinich (who went from fifth to fourth when Richardson quit) a congratulatory message inviting him to the festivities. They subsequently reneged on the invitation. So, I don't think Richardson is to blame. Dennis wouldn't have been invited had Richardson not dropped out. Of course, he should have been invited either way.

3. Richardson dropped out b/c his internal polling #'s were so low in the West |
|
Thus, he wanted to avoid the embarrassment and also maintain some hope of being somebody's VP.
