4. The media hated Gore in 2000 and hated Kerry in 2004 |
|
If Obama wins the nomination and the media stays in love with him, it will be a nice change.

7. The media loved them before they hated them |
|
if I remember right they both had a wide lead going into the campaign. Sometimes I think the MSM really doesn't favor either they just try to even it out to generate more interest in the election, like a sporting event.

14. Yes, the MSM likes their fairy-tale narrative |
|
In 2000 is was that Gore is a soulless technocrat. In 2004 it was that Kerry was inauthentic.
Maybe in 2008 it will be how fabulous Barrack Obama is. There have been some attempts at starting slime narratives, but they're not catching on. The election of the first woman President is also worthy of MSM over-dramatizing, but the news media seems happier going negative on Senator Clinton.
I'm reminded of the 1988 SNL debate sketch in which Mike Dukakis (Jon Lovitz) asks, "Wouldn't you rather have a president who can think and speak in complete sentences?" It was a great satirical point highlighting how the media focused on his "likability" rather than his "capability."
The MSM are a bunch of spoiled children; there's little hope that they'll behave this time around, so all we can do is cross our fingers and hope that their "fun" doesn't come at our expense this year.

5. I think it is safe to say that Tina Fey supports Hillary |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 10:18 AM by underpants
and since she was the host and probably wrote a lot of this this isn't that surprising.
Playing victim to supposed media bias is right out of the rightwing textbook and the problem is that you have a lillywhite press corp who are scared to death of having to talk about a black guy and don't know how to do it so they (or someone ;-) ) went with the lame "Cult" nonsense.

6. I can't figure out who you support |
|
but that does bring up a point. I am not sure if the media favors Obama so much or they are just scared of appearing to criticize him for fear of being called racist. I'm sure the Republicans will teach them some means of attack by this fall. They seam to be masters at finding a weakness.

Well okkay this isn't hard facts this was just my opinion.
Not trying to play it down the middle I would say that I am more for Obama but I think that Hillary is still odds on favorite to win the nomination and I will support whomever gets the nomination. It has been amazing to watch a campaign -who I have no idea of the components of- created out whole clothe and take down the prohibitive favorite -Hillary- whose team of experts got caught making horrendous assumptions and completely failing to plan.

I think if she gets close enough (without FLA and Mich.) the party will stick with the known quantity. The Clinton's still wield quite a bit of power within the party.
