Obama IS CHANGE, just not the change some people wanted
Before Jan 20, 2009, we had a president whom I would describe as follows:

-He had no regard for what those outside of his narrow base thought.
-His positions were based on his rigid ideology and did not take into account facts on the ground.
-He devalued the relationships with other countries that have benefited the United States since its founding when they disagreed with what he wanted.
-He had no regard for the constitution or the separation of powers and would flout both of those principles to get what he wanted.
-He used fearmongering to get people to support him.
-He was conservative.

On Jan. 20, the new president was none of those things.

Unfortunately, there is a loud minority of "progressives" who, when it came to Bush, may have said they disliked all six of those points, but they were really only unhappy about the last of the six points. In a leader, they really only wanted a liberal Bush.

I supported Obama because he is change from everything I listed. We have a leader who wants to govern rather than maximize his political advantage. He reaches out to people who have different beliefs, even if they might not reciprocate. He is working with our world allies again and winding down the wars the best he can. (and he will NOT start new ones unless there is a REALLY good reason). He respects the role of Congress (he lets them write the laws! Inconceivable!) and the courts. And I believe he is the most liberal president we've had in decades - he believes that government has a role in creating jobs, protecting consumers, and providing health care.

I supported Obama because he is specifically NOT a liberal Bush, but rather a refreshing CHANGE from the bad leadership of previous eight years.

180 from the bushcheney 8 year coup..and anyone who doesn't see that is either willfully ignorant or went and let themselves get brainwashed by the hateradio,/fauxsn00ze types..and yes even cnn(chickennoodlen00ze)..msnbc has its corporatewhores too, but, we're fortunate for Rachel, KO, Larry O'Donnell, Jon Stewart, et al!

I really appreciate those who are able to know the difference and are grateful for it.

4. We elected a grown-up as president, not a petulant child or a hormones-surging teen..
but unsurprisingly, some very partisan people - on his side of the fence - don't seem to really want that. For all the endless posts abt democrats being better than republicans, humans all share similar emotions, no matter what intellectual view they have embraced. I think we can all agree that on some level, it would be very satisfying to see President Obama drop kick Republicans down the steps of the Capitol. But playing extreme partisan ping-pong largely got us to this deplorable place and Obama knows that it's critical to attempt to stop it, no matter how frustrating that might be in the short run. We can only hope that what appears to be his very deliberate attempt to shine a light on the dangerous dysfunction in American politics resonates with the citizenry.

5. Yes, President Obama is who he is..not
who some internet posters think he should be.

He'll do it his way and that's who we elected. President Obama isn't into the instant gratification but the long term accomplishments..one can see that by the planning done in the building a solid infrastructure department.

One can see the opposite of solid infrastructure by the collapse of the last 8 years of bushcheney rule.

Since the corporatemedia stacks itself with derelict republicons ..these facts aren't as obvious to the average person but even they are catching on over the years.

If we had a free press..this would be a totally different country..where someone like our President could actually get even more done than he already has with all the obstacles in his way.
